Need some off-roading help
Hello all, im new to the forum and new to the full-size truck game! (Loving every second of it, and Ford has def got it going on!!). Bought a 2012 f150 5.0 XLT 4x4 about a month ago. I live somewhat out in the country and was wondering how much can i push this truck off-road? I have common sense (5 ft of water is a no go, but can i go through a foot n a half of mud and not worry?) My truck is not a FX4, and does not have the off-road pack, but is 4 wheel drive. Thanks in advance for the help guys

You can do pretty much anything a stock fx4 can do. Just gotta be more careful because the shocks on XLTs are a lot softer and the stock tires suck. And for going through deep mud I agree the stock tires woulnd fair to well. When I get a chance I'll snap a picture of what happened to my truck because the stock shocks and struts were to soft.

XLT doesn't have the skid plates, unless you added them. Need to be real careful of rocks as there are a bunch of items underneath your truck that are very susceptible, regardless of which engine you have. There is guy on these blogs name Josh that makes some real nice skid plates. I bought one, good prices too.
