Default What would you do?

Hey everyone,

So two weeks ago I purchased a 2011 FX2 Screw 5.0 in silver here in Dallas, sticker @40k sale for just about 28k but I ran into a few problems after taking my new truck home... First of all it was very late when we finished the paperwork so we couldn't do the new car inspection but when we came back in the morning we found the truck to have a taillight issue along with three scratches. No big deal they offered to fix it however now they are saying one of the scratches will require large amounts of paint work and I might be better off leaving it... Ok, odd for a new truck, but it was a good deal.

Edit; I should also add during this whole thing they had to fix my passenger door trim as it was loose and rattling, if anyone is having a low speed rattle check the lower corners of your door, that was the source for mine that drove me crazy for a couple hundred miles!

Fast forward two weeks and my truck flashed a low engine oil pressure light @ 600 miles driving on the service road of the highway causing my engine to shutoff at speed and my electronic steering to stop. The vehicle proceeded to coast for a few feet but I had to slam on the brakes as I could not muscle through the steering assist stopping. That was not something I would deal with, so I had it towed to the dealer and they say the computer shows no code as it should when a warning light comes on and that they can't replicate it. The vehicle did turn off the warning light after shutting it off and on but that doesn't change that the incident did happen.

I can thank my lucky stars it happened to shut off where it did as the vehicles behind me managed to stop just in time but had I been on the highway or on the onramp I'm certain I would have been a bad collision.

So my question is what would you do in this situation? Demand a different truck? Get them to fix something they can't replicate?

I'd mention the dealer but overall I'm still very satisfied with them and I'd rather not tarnish their name, just frustrated with the situation.

Thanks! Sorry for the long post.

Yeah, thats what I'm leaning towards, even if they can't replicate it knowing it could do this again is not a thought I'd like to entertain as I was just lucky this go around.

I don't see how you'd be better off leaving a big scratch on a new truck.Of course they are gonna say you'd be better off leaving it ,but I would have them repair it.I found a couple scratches on mine and made them buff them out before I took it home.Sometimes trucks sit on lots for awhile so there will be scratches.Hope you get all your other problems taken care of.270 miles on mine and holding my breath.

Try a different dealer. Some are more helpful than others and are more willing to help you out. Regardless if the light came on or not, how else would you know what happens when the truck suddenly turns off while moving right?

And I'm sorry but the truck should be delivered in perfect condition period. No scratch is too big to fix and not worth making right for you as the customer.

Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the input everyone, I'll update when I hear back as to the outcome of the truck spending the weekend at the shop and how its resolved. Hopefully I'll also get up some pic's when its all fixed as well, despite her problems she's still a bute.

Just make sure they don't put 400 miles on your new truck "diagnosing" the problem, and meanwhile haul stuff around in you bed putting scratches on it. Not that a dealer would ever do that....

Keep records of what they say and note the mileage when things occur, minor or not. You have to be ready to cover yourself , specially if they say they found nothing wrong. Know your lemon laws in your state if you have one as well. Keep an eye on the Ford recall list for your truck, they don't always notify everyone.

Hopefully they resolve it, Joe
