What would have been your 2nd choice?

Keepin' the lights on!
At certain camera angles the new stock 4runners are kinda ugly. However, in person they aren't so bad. Add in a lift, wheels, tires and it changes the look altogether. You definitely won't mistake one for anything else though. They are solid and dependable. I've always had a thing for 4runners I guess.

I'm going to be honest here, I was real close to getting a 5.7 Tundra. I've had a few as rentals over the years, and they are fantastic. If the EcoBoost did not exist, I would have traded my 2011, 5.0 for a new '14 Tundra, Crew Max.
I don't really car for the Tundra's look, but you can't beat rock-solid reliability, and ridiculously high re-sale value.
Thank goodness, I really enjoyed my 2011, F-150 despite the minor nuisances I had with it. I'm glad I went with this new FX4, EcoBoost at the end of the day.
Ram's look awesome, but the absolutely blow to work out of. The new GM trucks are outright disappointing, I have zero interest in.

I'm amazed at how many people in here were cross-shopping cars and SUV's? I've never considered anything else besides a truck, when shopping for a truck. I'm not pointing fingers, and this a completely random statement, but now I get why so many are concerned with fuel economy on this board.

Wanted a the new Shelby GT500 (sold my 700rwhp mustang when I got married) but decided I need my DL for work and it would be lost in a blink of an eye.
Looked at both the new XJ and A8 but decided those would be not such a great idea since I often have to hook and book probationers and deliver to our local government funded Holiday Inn.
As for trucks looked at the Sierra Denali and laughed. Family Ford discount and the beautiful F150, I just knew I had to get her. Chose the Platinum since I'm used to luxury (traded in my Escalade Platinum) and the back seats fold up! So I can transport a guy on the single seat with out much collateral damage.
Any other situation I would of have chosen the XJ.

On more meds than ymeski
A 2011 XLT SCREW Eco with max tow. It was between that and my Fx2. The wife liked the XLT better but she wasn't buying that day.

Echo some of the other comments here. I have always had either a Ford or a GM with one Mazda MX-6 thrown in. But I felt particular loyalty to the local GM dealer so that is where I began my search. Been dealing with them for the last 13 years or so and bought a new commuter car from them. They also went well beyond expectations when I bought a lemon Jimmy privately. (last time for that I think). Frankly put, they didn't even want to talk to me about a new truck . I returned three times trying to engage their interest but was pretty much told to go outside, choose a truck and pay the sticker price. The fact that it was $10,000 difference and more features I wanted on the F150 that quickly sent me down the street to Ford But I was really surprised and disappointed at their complete lack of motivation in trying to sell me a vehicle.
