The search feature can answer this question better than me but here goes.

A-Plan - Ford employee pricing
X-Plan - Partner recognition, friends/family of Ford.

More detailed X-plan info: http://bigval.addr.com/commercial/x_plan.htm

My employer X-plan saved me about 9%-10% on my new truck, plus all incentives at the time. Not a bad arrangement but once you tell them your using X-plan the price locks and I couldn't get them to go any lower.

Still believe it all worked out well in the end.

Also used it to purchase my girl a 2011 fusion. Same situation, 9%-10% and all incentives at the time. Picked them up the same night and made the salesman very happy i'm sure!

now do you guys know if the x plan is cheaper than using USAA autobuying service?

I got a quote from a dealer that supports USAA
40k otd for a 2011 fx4 screw with lux package, no moon-roof or nav.

USAA is cheaper than the X plan. At least on mine it was.

Don't forget X-plan caps what dealers can charge for "documentation fees". What would normally cost $399 at my dealer is only $75 thanks to X-plan.

I used to have friends at GM so I never had to haggle or worry about plans, but when I bought my 2010 last fall I was on my own. I used the X plan and I think it was 4% above factory invoice - not dealer. It dropped the sticker of $36.4K to $32,579. All dealer incentives still applied so I got another $5500 off. For those who are interested I also saw the A Plan and I think it was right at $2K lower than the X on a $36.4K 2010 truck. I told the salesman I was no longer interested in the X plan, which he held firm, because I felt I could do better without it.

I had a trade in that I booked out before starting my search so I knew what to expect. He hit it on the nose on his first offer but held on to the X Plan. He offered me another $500 on the trade and then another $500 before I walked. So now I had the X Plan and $1000 on the trade - and I walked out telling him I was in no hurry, and honestly, I was not in any hurry. I had time to hold out until the end of the month.

On the last day of the month he called and offered me another $500 for the trade. I got an allowance of $3800 and change for the X Plan, $5500 in incentive money and $1500 over the dealer trade in value of the car.

Based solely on my single experience my advice to anyone using any plan is to start dealing during the 3rd week of the month and hold out until the last week. If the dealer has any money to work with you will know about it 2 days before the books close and it will sweeten the plan even more.

All said and done I got $10.8K off the sticker of a $36.4K truck. Now I don't know if I got I got screwed or only fondled, but at the end of the day I ended up feeling pretty good about my new truck.

I bought on the A plan, I have 2 family members that worked at Ford. I had to tell her what I type if vehicle I was looking for ie. F150, she logged onto their Ford account and got me a PIN from Ford. When I picked out the truck I gave the dealer my PIN, they entered it with the truck VIN and Ford gave the dealer my cost on the truck. They had to show me the invoice from Ford and the dealer could not add anything to it. You get all of the discounts and rebates plus the A plan price.
When I went to the dealer with my trade in truck they originally were going to give me an awesome trade on it, when I told them I had the A plan they changed their minds and offered me about half of what they originally told me. Needless to say I walked, After about a week of going back and forth we finally agreed on the trade in.
The A plan is the best thing going that Ford offers.

Z-Plan is the same thing as A-Plan, but for retirees and their family. A and Z are listed together on the invoice and carry the same pricing.

It's just like charliecpb said, you tell your family member the model of vehicle and they call and get a pin for you to use. They get a limited number of pins, but they can give them to anyone in their family.

A/Z is a LOT more agressive pricing than X. When I bought my FX4, the invoice showed X plan a couple thousand over invoice. A/Z was a couple thousand under invoice. Once they stacked on the available rebates and incentives, it put me 35% or so under MSRP.
