Question What size tires should I get?

I have a 2012 fx4 that I just leveled 2.5".. The truck looks like it skipped leg day, therefore I am looking to upgrade tire size. I was thinking about 35's, but do they rub and would I have to trim?

What size rims? If 20s I would go with 285/65/20 or 295/60/20. If 18s 285/75/18 or 295/70/18. With a 2.5" level none of the above options should rub. Tire brand is all up to you and how aggressive you want to get. To me, an AT is the best bang for the buck but mud grips look better. Hope this helps a little, if you have any more questions let me know.

35s will not rub and they are a common choice with a level. Another consideration is top gear struggle. What engine and gear? 3.73 you're fine with any engine but 3.55 I'd only go that big with the ecoboost's extra lower rpm grunt. That's just personal opinion of course, different strokes for different folks.

they shouldn't with a 2.5" level. Most don't.

35x12.5 would for sure rub on my '12 FX4 leveled with a 2" HBS spacer. I'm running 295/60/20 Terra grapplers and I get slight rubbing when turning hard and/or backing up. I have seen some guys fit them but I don't know how. I ran 295/70/18 trail grapplers on my '09 that was leveled with 5100s set to the top setting and had 0 rubbing issues but still don't think the 35x12.5 would've fit.

I like 305/70r18. I have Mickey Thompson ATZ P3's.

The only thing to watch when going with a 35x12.5 tire is how aggressive the sidewall is. If you have wide lugs like on the Toyo MT or Mud Grappler, you are going to rub the control arm.

I've heard quite a few folks complaining that 35s rub, especially in situations where the suspension is being used (well), like off road. Somewhat depends on the offset of the wheels.

I run 285/75R17s. Raptor take offs (34mm offset vs the OEM 44mm offset) They are 34". I've crossed up about as far as the truck is capable of, and there is no rubbing anywhere.

Here's how they look standing still (2" level/front; 1" lift in back):
