But all that aside i really would recommend a Ford. My high school truck was a 2003 F-150 Lariat. Sold it to my brother in law and it now has 230,000 miles and no major problems. I have the GMC in my Sig and my company has spent somewhere in the range of 10k fixing electrcal problems with it. But most of the GMC's are fine. heh just have to get lucky

Skip the showroom nonsense and deal with the internet sales guy. 50% of the time they are not commissioned, as they often are part of the fleet sales group. Tell them exactly what you want via email, that way they know the expectation when you walk in. I started with internet sales on my last truck purchase ('07) and it made my experience MUCH better. Via the internet, they have no idea what or who you are until you walk in the first time. Keep the emails professional and to the point, and you will get exactly what you want without the hassle.

This is the truth! I purchased my '11 through the internet sales manager and it was effortless. No sales pressure

Don't let the some of the bad things you read on here scare you. Sure they do happen but I assure you they are the minority. What you don't often read are the other 98% of owners who have little to no problems and enjoy what they purchased. Does some of it come down to luck? Sure but you have a very great chance of getting a good vehicle.

Its rare that people who aren't normally on some type of vehicle forum will sign up on one just to let you know everything is ok.....

Everything has issues (visit the Ford, Dodge, Toyota, Nissan, Bugatti sites and you will see issues on all of em).

I've looked at everything else, every time I buy and I keep coming back. I had Nav/Sync issues on my Raptor, friends kept telling me to not go back to Ford, but I've bought 3 since then....

Thanks for all the responses easing my concerns.

Now it comes down to a good price and ill be in a ford in no time. Next question would be, should I do a trade in value on my dodge charger.. Or try to sell it outright by myself. Only problem with selling it by myself is ill have to time the sell with a good buy at a dealership. Can't afford to be without a car. I'll be hitting the lots this weekend. Wish me luck fellas.

In regards to trade-in vs private selling, it comes down to convenience. If you don't mind taking the extra time and energy to do a private sale you will probably get some more dough, but If convenience is a factor for you and you don't mind taking a little hit then by all means trade. I traded my '04 on my '11 and was able to get almost as much as I probably would have privately.

Hang in there H*! Shop around and only work with a dealer who gives you respect! No matter what your age. Do some online research too for price at different dealers. I wish I could give you some specific buying tips, but be TOUGH! I am when I shop. One dealer sales manager told me a few years ago, "Mr. iFord, 85% of our customers are not like you." He was admitting that they try to rip off 85% of their customers! No, I did not buy from them!! Even though I had gotten them down to a great price, the lowest they could sell it for! But I was worn out by the emotional stress they put me through! When I did buy, it was from a dealer who was very easy to deal with and gave me the best price up front!

Yeah tonight I might go out to some local car lots and see what they would give me as a trade in value and make my decision from there. Of course I would love a little extra $$$ in my life.
