Default What should I buy!?

I am currently looking for a new truck. Obviously ford is at the top of my list based on overall looks and interior and etc. But with all the talk of truck malfunctions, warranty problems, and ford basically shooting in the dark for an fix.. I don't want to get under a $40k unreliable truck.

I would be looking for
2012 4x4 5.0L
Leather, Nav

Everything else is flexible.

Guess what I'm asking is what are the odds I'd get a dud of a truck, and would you buy the f150 again? Recommend it to a friend? Thanks for all the help.

I had a '99 XLT for my first truck. Got a '00 XLT a few years later. Then got a '02 Lightning. After that, I got a '08 King Ranch. Now I have a '13 Limited on order. I've never had any issues with an F150. I look forward to my new one, and I will certainly have another after it.

The "competition" is just out there to keep Ford in check. No one comes close to the F150 in regards to a total package.

The odds of you getting a dud truck are extremely slim at best. I mean, Ford sold over 100,000 ecoboost trucks alone. The odds are definitely in your favor.

Mine has been trouble free, but if you're worried you might look at a Chevy!

Thanks for the info guys, from what I've read it seems the ecoboost has the majority of the problems. Which is why I want a 5.0L.

My second option is a GMC Denali 1500 but it just sucks ill have to buy a fully loaded vehicle with a 6.2L to compare to an average FX4.

There is no guarantee that going with Ford or brand x will or will not have problems down the road. Same goes for engine vs. engine. I was in the truck accessory for over ten years. I have seen lemons from every brand. It boils down to luck, or whatever you want to call it. Buy what you like and want.

I picked up my third one since June 2010 today, 09 FX4, 10 Platinum and 13 FX4 Lux. The 09 was my first Ford, and I must admit they are nice trucks. I have put 80,000 miles on each one of them, with hardly a hiccup. Actually other than normal wear and tear items, 2 oxygen sensors are the only thing I have replaced.

You are buying a great American made product, have fun shopping!

Yeah that's something I'm not really looking forward too. Since I'm only 22 I walk on a car lot and get NO respect. Sucks that a young guy can't make a good living, only older people are allowed. But I'm sure I can find that one lot to work with me on a 2012.

I hear you on that im 23. I bought my first truck on my own a couple of weeks ago. I went to one dealer and at one point was surrounded by 4 people telling me this and telling me that. They where going to give me a better deal or so they said. I ended up going with the dealer i bought my Focus from a few years ago. I had the benefit of working for a company that buys 3/4 of a million dollar truck orders a year, and ended up dealing with the owner. But i will tell you that the other dealer was a learning experience.

I'm 20 and definitely hear ya.. But I'd recommend a ford. I had a 5.0 and it did have problems but they were fixed, just like what can happen to anything else.
