Longevity of drivetrain?

And you mean the 3.15 is tall enough. And sorry, this gear would suck to tow anything worth mentioning. The stress on the drivetrain and transmission trying to move 10,000lbs with these gears would not be fun. There's a reason people install lower (numerically higher) gears when towing heavy. Easier on the drive train to get the load moving.

Since 95% of the time my truck is not towing and my trailer and load total aprox 7000 lbs max The Ecoboost tourque moves. it efertlessly and the 95% time not towing is well worth the trade off in reduced RPM and increased fuel milage. So in my case this does equate to less drive train wear due to lower engine speed and fewer total revalutions per mile

Any input is appreciated!
Go with the 4.10's.

I had a 2011 FX4 with factory 4.10's and loved it. It will hold 6th gear down to 45 or so then still climb a hill if you ask it to. At 70 mph it turns about 2050 rpms. On a interstate trip I get 21.5 mpg. Around town I get town I get 15.8 on average. Something I find interesting is when it shifts into 6th I have to go 63 mph. If I tap the tow haul button at say 55-62 it will drop into 6th right away and hold it with the tow/haul button off. Kind of the opposite of the way I thought it might work. At any rate, I like the 4.10's enough that my 2013 FX4 will have them as well.

Granted I don't have the 6 speed, but I still think 4.10s would be my best bet.. Now, I just need to sell my 3.73s I just bought..lol

Where's the 3.31 option? It does alright on just about anything but 3.55s would be better. The 5.4 torque helps keep it in higher gears pretty well.

I'm pretty much set on 3.73s. I think 4.10s would be just a hair to much for a 2wd. Anyone want to swap rear axles?
