My wife has a '13 Edge Limited with an EcoBoost, and it's a great vehicle. I enjoy the hell out of driving it, because it's so easy and smooth to drive. Our other vehicle is a '13 Camaro ZL1 convertible. Ours isn't a daily driver, but it certainly could be. It's surprisingly comfortable. The seats feel really nice, and the magnetic suspension is great.

my wife had a car budget of 40k. And she picked a new Chevy Cruze. (LOL) She loves it and that little turbo actually scoots that thing pretty good.

It gets around 37-38 mpg, takes the snow ok, and can be had for around 15k used.

I was in the same boat as you are now with my truck. I ended up getting a Focus SE and have loved very minute of it. I consistently get 36 mpg. It will be real shock the first time you fill it up, for about 30 bucks.
The car is a blast to drive, handles great, and is great on fuel. I have had it for about 10 months now.
