Default What to offer on a 2012?

Hi All,

New to this forum.

I'm looking to buy an XLT 4X4 SuperCab (not crew) in the next few days. Dealer near me has pretty much what I'm looking for listed for $38K sticker. Its one of only 2 of their leftover 2012's.

http://jackmaddenfordsales.com/Bosto...ruck/16177745/

5.0L V8, XLT Convenience Pkg, etc.

What should I offer on this? Do I have a bit more leverage with it being a 2012 this late in the game? I'm thinking start at like $28K and expect to pay about $30K-$31K? Should I be lower than that? I know the higher the MSRP (supercrews, lariat, etc) the more you can usually get off sticker so it would stand to reason a little less here.

I figure the positives are its a 2012 that they probably want to get rid of and its an ext cab which don't seem nearly as popular as the crew cabs nowadays. Hoping they might let it go dirt cheap.

Thanks!

This far into 2012... They are desperately trying to sell that sucker i'd guess. I wouldn't pay a dime over 31. If they get down to 31 on the first "day" of negotiations, What i'd do is tell them 30 is the final offer, here's my number and call me if things "change".

I paid 22 for my XLT supercab 4x2 in July 2012. Sticker was 36. I'd think you could swing mid 20s to be honest man.

I grant you that the 5.0 is a more desired engine than my 3.7L but mine has all the packages and what not as well. Sticker 38 and I wouldn't go higher than 28-29 still. Just my 2c

I paid 32K out the door for a very similar truck but it was a 2013 model with the Ecoboost engine and the sticker was 45K. I would not go any higher than 30 out the door at the very high end. Shop around for a 13 and see what kind of prices to expect for a 2013 model. Deals on these trucks right now for the most part are very good, shop around, you might be able to find a 2013 cheaper some place else.

Another vote for you can probably get a '13 for about the same price.

I'd offer 3k less than a '13 and see if the take it. I think that's a fair price. They have been paying the juice on that '12 for at least 4 months now, so everyday it sits it costs them $.

I agree. And also check with your financial institution on what rate you'll get on a 2012. Sometimes they feel it's already one model year old and your rate/terms may be different than a 2013.

Heck, the order books on 2014's opens in about 4 months
