What is this for on my sales receipt?
Says Silent Guard $199.99. -- What is this for?
Also after adding everything up and applying hamilton county, ohio sales tax 6.5% doesn't match the amount of tax listed on the receipt.
So wondering what goes into the final value that is multiplied by the sales tax.
I believe the final value of my 2011 FX4 is like 38k but the sales tax is only on 32k. I have removed negative equity from trade, ext warranty, all fees, the factory discount and everything and still don't get down to the 32k. Any ideas?

Silent guard sounds like some type of dealer add on security. Tax is paid on the amount that is left after your trade-in is deducted from the sale. IE... if you bought for 38K and trade in 30K you only pay taxes on 8K.

Is silent Guard not the process where they spray all over your truck undercarriage and such with those microscopic id tags? or is that somethings else... maybe I'm just thinking of the IGlobal stuff.... if I'm off, just ignore this posting

Still not sure what silent guard is I'll just have to call the dealer back.
Im saying they not only undercharged for Sales Tax but there doesn't appear to be any number, subtotal, total or any combination of numbers that could be multiplied by the 6.5 percent tax rate to get the low number they charged for sales tax. My Sales tax was 2027, divide that by .065 = 31184 no combination of numbers on the receipt sum up to that. Just seems weird.

I believe silent guard is etching they put on all glass to help identify the vehicle in case of theft/removed vin #. In Canada its called Protector plus.

Yep, my dealer tried to pull that "silent guard" or whatever they called it on me. He explained that it was etching on all glass with your vin number, then they register it with someone in case your truck gets stolen. I told them that I didn't ask for it and they took the charges off my invoice.

You are only charged sales tax on the amount after your trade. Ex: You buy a $30,000 truck and they give you $12,000 for your trade- you are charged sales tax on $18,000. At least that is the way it is in PA. You just need to make sure that the tax amount matches that on the paper you receive with your registration card. The paper with the reg. card gives a phone number to call if the amounts are not the same.
