Default What Are My Options Dealing With Ford On This Problem......

My 2012 FX 4 Eco has been in the shop since well before Christmas waiting on a new updated Intercooler Now they are telling me March 28th. I am looking at my truck being in the shop 4 months and that is unexceptable.

There has to be something I can do. Any advice

Ask the dealer for a loaner truck.

I'd call customer service and speak with the service rep for the dealership. Make them pay the payment every month and give you a rental plus an extended warranty.

That will never happen. Ford Warranty only provides for the fixing of the issue. By signing the contract you have released Ford of any other responsibility should your vehicle need warrantied maintenance.

The dealer might give you a loaner, or he might tell you to limp it along until it comes back in, that just depends on whether or not the dealer cares about "after"care.

First off... Why is it in there in the first place? Did you experience the condensation shutter others have experienced on occasion?

options depend on more information from you. where do you live? are they providing a loaner car at no cost? or cost? is the truck deliverable back to you as is or are you refusing? when did you purchase? mileage and date when problem reported? mileage and date when first repair attempted?

these items affect just your lemon law action, if you are in the US.

not to mention other options like making a good grace effort by the dealer on their own or with ford for a trade. and or any number of alternative resolution practices.

Many guys posted on here that the IC were a back order and many not until March. How are you getting around now?. I would worry more on the gas that been sitting in your tank for over a month. I hope you treated it or at least have a topped off tank. Your dealer is at the mercy of Ford parts supplier. What do you expect for the dealer to do for you?

Why aren't you driving it while you wait for the new intercooler?

They gave me a loaner. Stripped 2 wheel drive 6 cylinder. That's fine for a while but not 4 months. I need the 4x4 and more tow capacity.

The service manager is a nice guy, not blaming the dealer. Although, I am a A/C contractor and I make things happen all the time other contractors can't or wont do.

Truck is one year old. They don't want me driving it. Engine light is on and power and fuel mileage is waaay down. Never had the shudder or misfire.

Main thing is It is ridiculous that Ford is making me wait 4 months. I have been driving Ford trucks since 1973 and have never seen anything like this. Seems like someone up the food chain at Ford could do something. Feels like I just keep getting pushed to the end of the line. I have had 3 ship dates come and go only to be told it didn't come in.
