What was Ford thinking........
...when they mounted the shocks so close to the rear tires. I'm not sure if my snow chains would clear when I'm driving or not. Looks like I'll be in the market for new wheels with a little less backspacing.

Yes, on the 2012. Tires are 285/65/18 Toyo AT2 mounted on FX4 wheels.
I realize going up one size is my fault but I already had the chains to fit that size. I know they won't fit on the front either.
Who knows, I may get creative with the welder and torch to correct this issue.
Hopefully, I won't even need the chains but I will carry them in the winter anyway.

Because the closer the shocks (and springs) are to the contact patch (wheel/tire) the better they perform...especially on uneven terrain...

I've never seen chains required for a passenger vehicle. Maybe if he's towing a trailer but even then I don't see it often.
