In warm or hot weather, after about 20 miles without a trailer, tranny temp should be around 190° to 200°. Working hard with the torque converter unlocked it should go up to around 205° to 210°. Under severe strain with the torque converter unlocked, such as dragging a heavy trailer up a steep mountain trail at less than 30 MPH, you could see over 210°. The red line is 225°. If it gets close to 225°, stop, put the tranny in neutral or park, elevate the idle RPM to 1,200, and sit there twiddling your thumbs until it cools down to less than 210°. Heat is the tranny killer, so never allow it to go over 225° if you don't want a dead tranny.

You missed my point. There was a thread about the same thing on the first page when you started this!

There is nothing wrong with a trans temp in the 190-200 range. Yes, they have coolers, but the fluid will bypass them to keep temps up.
