Default What does Max Tow Package consist of? Does 6.5' bed look better?

Torn on these 2 options. My local dealer keeps telling me to get the 5.5' bed, but I think its because he has 30 of them, and only 2 6.5' bed trucks.

What length bed of truck looks best on the F150? Which would you get?

He also is telling me not to put much weight into the Max Towing Package. Then again, he only has 1 truck with this. I think it is essential since I tow from time to time.

What exactly does the Max Tow Package consist of exactly?

I tow a boat that weights 8,200lbs from time to time.

Are you looking at a super crew of the supercab? I have the super crew and the 6.5 bed with max tow and I love it. The extra foot of bed space is really handy. The max tow package has the larger towing mirrors, upgraded receiver, upgraded bumper and a larger trans and radiator cooler. Go with the truck that best fits your needs and style. Max tow also increase your max payload and trailer towing weight.

With that size boat I would go with max tow for increased pay load since that can run out quickly on a half ton. In case you didn't know max tow is only available on the ecoboost and the 6.2.

I got the 13 Max tow with the 6.5 bed. I think the bed is more proportionate to the truck if your looking at a crew cab. Coming from a SD with 8ft bed, I chose the 6.5 because when I put tailgate down I could slide a 4x8 of plywood/drywall w/o any hanging off the bed. The max tow usually gives you the 3.73 rear, upgraded hitch/bumper, radiator cooler, trans cooler, and the SD tow mirrors (usually). Don't ever listen to a car salesmen, there only interested in selling the trucks they make the most commission on. I believe the EB truck is rated for towing 11,100lbs with a 6.5ft bed and 4x4.

I don't know about the max tow, but I love my 6.5 ft bed on my supercrew. The whole reason I bought the F150 was because I could have the big crew cab and 6.5 ft bed.

Keep in mind, I got the Screw with the 5.5 bed so the truck would fit in my garage. Unless you have a REALLY big garage, the 6.5 won't fit. ( Just be aware...)
I've had too many vehicles torn up by hail to not garage them.

Thats what I was thinking as well, and I agree.

Got a pic of your truck? (looking for crew 6.5 pics vs. 5.5 crew pics (4x4 if possible)

The Max Tow package gives you approximately 500 additional pounds of payload capacity, a higher tow rating, and tow mirrors. The 6 1/2' bed looks best to me, but what matters is how you think it looks. I have a 6 1/2' Screw, and can't imagine going back to the short bed again. But it is a little more cumbersome to navigate tight areas (something you get used to quickly). I can fit mine in my garage too, and that is very important to me. Hopping into an ice and snow free, dry, warm/cool truck all year long is worth a lot to me. If I couldn't fit the 6 1/2' truck in my garage, I would at least consider a short bed.

I have the shorter bed and the ecoboost. It's not the max tow package, but it is rated to tow 11,000 lbs. I have towed a camper for a friend that weighed 8000 lbs, and it had no problems at all. He has a 2009 Chevy with the 5.3 and says he'll be trading in on a ford. Lol
