~~~2010 F150 XLT 4x4 White/White~~~
I Love my truck.... Great looking Great Ride Great handling and towing Overall I think the changes they've made in the last couple of years are great!
Just a couple of irritations. My biggest issue is that ALL of the power points stay hot with the ignition off (I would think lesson learned with those "hot" switches on the older models that caused fires). I understand the need for one to be that way for charging cell phones, etc. but at least have one on that shuts off so we don't kill the battery if we forget to unplug necessary items like radar detector and GPS.
The rear headrests need to be removable, like in most vehicles now. I cannot see out the rear passenger side and rarely carry passengers back there.
The Sync controls could be more user friendly and have more options for setting things like "WE" want them... and what's up with the whispering volume level everytime the phone is used. Maybe they are afraid of waking us up?
... and ditto to the Grab handle and Steering wheel controls
I like the ride quality, 0 to 60 acceleration, and the exhaust/CAI noise. The big three (exhaust, tuner, CAI) have really made the truck a completely different animal.
I don't like the interior build quality. A piece of my dash has come loose and one of my window switches won't work unless I hit the button twice.
Just fold the rear seatbacks down and pull the headrests off.
My 2010 Lariat SCREW replaced my 1990 Lariat SCAB, so this is a quantum leap for me in terms of quality, performance and features. I like everything about the new truck!
Likes: power, acceleration, braking, nav system, man step and bed steps, reverse camera, towing package with dual wiring hook-ups and integrated trailer brake controller.
No real dislikes, but things I would change or add, many already mentioned:
- grab handle on the drivers side
- additional grab handle on passenger side, directly above door, in addition to on the A pillar
- locking gas filler cover that works with the central locking system (my 94 Volvo has this)
- courtesy light under the hood (this is in my '90, why did they take it out?)
- armrest for the captains chairs (also in my '90)
- footpad rest for the driver's left foot
- empty spaces in the fuse box to store spare fuses (another Volvo idea)
- disable switch for the cruise control
- I really like the windshield washers that have the water coming out along the wiper arms, and not shot up on the windshield from a nozzle
Nothing here that would have prevented me from buying the truck, it is an excellent piece of craftsmanship!
I'm not entirely sure its the same but on the Escape I drive for work if you press resume and coast at the same time it kicks cruise off. I haven't tried it with my 150 though
They got the empty spaces.
I don't think it's for storing spare fuses. They are just wasted spaces.
I didn't open the passenger side fuse box because it was taped shut. I don't think there are any spare fuse holders in there.
My 2001 Chevy Silverado had dedicated places (labeled spare fuse) for spare fuses to be stored in the fusebox.
I'm glad you mentioned lack of spare fuses. I need to buy an assortment of spares for my road emergency kit.
First new vehicle, previous truck was f150 1994, xlt reg cab. This vehicle xl 2009 reg cab.
Likes:
For a reg cab, has more space behind the driver and passenger then I am use to in a reg cab, can fit tool boxes and other items behind the chair.
capless fuel system ( may become a dislike if I get gas stolen )
appearance, and it rides nice, the seats are very comfortable. I get compliments all the time on these factors. I also like the head rest.
Dislikes:
glove box, and center console are tiny, things slip out and fall behind glove box. Also glove box does not lock.
key ignition switch, I am used to the old style, with the protruding wing shape, that stuck out from the column, you could find in the dark easily. I do not like the flush mount, and still have to look for it to insert the key. Minor, but annoying.
door locks freeze constantly in the winter, afraid to put heat to key, so don't lock doors in winter for now.
So far I have owned truck for 6 months, and have put 5000 miles on it. The dislikes are minor, and what vehicle do you own, do you not find things u dislike about it. But I like posts like this, because it allows ford to improve their product.
Other notes, I miss my power locks and windows more then I thought I would. My other truck was 4x4, this one is not. We are having a worse then normal winter, and with 400 lbs of weight in the back, I do not miss the 4x4 so far. The 4.6 2v has served me well, I do not haul more then 5000 lbs. And one final note, for all complaining about floor mats, as u know the xl does not come with carpeting, and I love that, I don't have to worry about mud on the floor, I just mop it out. If I get a ford again I am thinking xlt for the power accessories next time, but leave the carpet out.
Only had mine for a couple of weeks, so I sure this list will evolve:
Likes:
- it's huge
- rides great, my Texas Cadillac.
- good mileage for a truck
- looks very nice, though my wife thinks the chrome is too blingy. I think she's crazy.
- good value
- very quite
- enough room for my 3 y.o. to literally run around in the back seat area
Dislikes:
- it's huge
- stereo quality is very poor (I'm no audiophile - but this is worse than any car I've owned since the days when radios were mounted with 2 ***** and FM Stereo was an option)
- only a Hobson's choice of brown or brown on XLT interior color. I would like gray.
- key on the steering column. Toyota's version on the dash is much easier to see and use
- paint quality is not good. Lots of orange peel. Concerned about how it's going to hold up over the years.
- no light when cruise control is 'on' but not active. Only lights when it's active. I know when it's on and active as the truck doesn't slow down when I take my foot off the gas. It'd be more useful for it to light up when it's 'on'.
- glove box too small, center console too big. And it has a place explicitly marked for 'Tissue'. Seriously? I was a leg shaving, spandex wearing prissy cycling boy for most of my life and I've never once though "I really need a place for tissue in my giant truck"
- squared-off bottom of the steering wheel where it connects to the steering column sometimes hits my knee if I'm turning and braking at the same time. In a truck this big, nothing should hit my leg.
