What did Ford do to our AC units?

If you have an EB engine, it's due to the crappy undersized AC compressor Ford uses to meet mileage requirements. You can try insulating the freon lines (helps a little). If your really adventurous, try installing a shut-off valve in the coolant line so that hot coolant doesn't go into the heater core. It's not like we use the heater much in Texas anyway.

Cycling off/on
I have the same issue with my 2013 platinum. The ac compressor cycles on and off while on its lowest(coolest) setting. My previous f150 lariat, a 2011 model with a 5.0, did not do this. It's pretty disappointing that there are inconsistencies such as this so widespread. The ventilated seats don't work as we'll either.
I'm hopeful the 2016 will fix these issues.

It Stinks in Here...
The coldest that I can get the air to come out of the vents is 50 degrees. That is on max a/c and it doesn't matter fan speed. I have done just about everything I can to get it colder minus pinching a heater line. The truck was looked at by the dealer and they said it was working per specs. I know it is a lot of space to cool, but if the air out of the vent is not cold, its not going to cool much. My old truck was a 94 F150 which was the first year they used R134a in the F150s and while I never checked the air temps on it, it would freeze you out even with 180k miles on it and the a/c system never serviced. I work at a John Deere dealer and I have seen temps on tractor a/c systems in the mid 30s even with outside air temps in the 90s. That is a big drop in temperature.

This is a carry-over problem from the previous generation. My '07 Screw was pretty bad. I never measured the vent temp, but anything over 85 degrees outside you needed to run max AC with the fan on high. Probably one of the most complained about issues on the forums, and no real solutions were ever found, other than guys making heater hose bypasses, insulating lines, etc just like guys have been doing on this generation.
I haven't had to use the AC in my '13 Screw but I'm expecting to be underwhelmed.

I use a head visor across the glass for hot summers. Dfw here, and yes the heat soak will be bad without some kind of protection. My white truck gets hot during the summer. Ive put ceramic Llumar tint on the front windows and am seriously considering the Llumar clear film designed for windshields. Its legal because it doesnt actually "tint" but it reflects something like 40% of the heat (website says it's 30 degrees cooler inside). The tint guy also said you wont feel the heat on your face or hands from the windshield going down the road either, and that he doesnt need a heat reflector on the glass when he's parked.
