General rule of thumb is to go with the latest revision possible but there are always exceptions. If you start searching the forum for issues you'll find them in abundance for all years.

What he said ^. Latest rendition of a given model release will have the most refinements. Not that you can't get a great truck the 1st year, or a problem truck the last year. But the strait answer to your question is 2014.

I just bought a 2014 Platnium with the 5.0 for this very reason. Mature platform and the 15's don't look much different. Got 6.5 ft 4X4 Ruby Red with the 5.0 and could not be happier. Rare truck to find and I saw it sitting on my local dealer's lot.

Retired and loving it!
Two extra pistons
Two extra wrist pins, rods and crank bearings.
Four extra valves and springs for each..............
And the EB having two less cylinders and the only additional moving parts to the engine being the turbo vanes and bearings.........I would really think that the 5.0 has far more moving parts than the EB. Am I wrong here?

You know, I've read this here so many times, but with the 5.0 being a V8 with: Two extra pistons Two extra wrist pins, rods and crank bearings. Four extra valves and springs for each.............. And the EB having two less cylinders and the only additional moving parts to the engine being the turbo vanes and bearings.........I would really think that the 5.0 has far more moving parts than the EB. Neither did I --- my comments were only an observation about a frequently made statement here..........and I agree that if you consider specific output per cubic inch, the EB is a much higher output engine, and therfore perhaps a higher risk proposition.
