Default What is the best oil and oil filter to use in the Ecoboost?

I'm getting ready to do my first oil change at 4500 miles. I've used Mobil 1 synthetic, Motorcraft semi synthetic, and Castrol in the past. I want to start off using great oil and continue using it. I appreciate any opinions or advice.
By the way this is on a 2014 F-150 FX4 Ecoboost with only 4000 miles on it.

You're gonna get a lot of opinions. This is mine.

Stick with Motorcraft 5w-30 and Motorcraft filters to keep the cost down and change your oil often (like 5k maximum). Oil contamination is the thing you are guarding against for that direct injection motor.

there are ball bearing scratch tests done now and again to really measure what the 'best' oils are in the same weight... i think amsoil normally wins but it's expensive and not sold everywhere.

my $.03 (inflation) is use any good quality synthetic (Mobile 1 fits the bill just fine) and use only Motorcraft filters... i don't know about the eco engine, but in other ford engines like the 5.4l that back flow preventer in the Motorcraft filter likely prevented most of the timing related issues that seem to be to some degree common in those motors)

There are all sorts of independent test results available on the interweb. Having read lots of them and normally driving my vehicles into the 200K mile range I have always used top tier oil and filters. Motorcraft oil and filters have been rated right up there with much more expensive brands. I figure if the engineers who design, test and replace warranty issues spec Motorcraft oil/filters. Go with it!

I've had two EcoBoosts for a combined miles driven of over 100k. I changed them both within the first 3-5k miles and then changed it every 6k, along with tire rotation, after that.

Always used Motorcraft filters and always used 5W-30 Pennzoil Platinum synthetic. It is not a very expensive oil (for a synthetic) and frequently beats and competes well against far more expensive stuff. It can be found even at Walmart along with the filter and has been flawless for me from day one.

Unless you engineered the truck yourself I'd stick with what the mfg. recommends. They didn't just "Spin the wheel" on oil and a filter.

Every "performance" vehicle in my life (including motorcycles, etc.) gets Mobil 1 - FULL synthetic. Everything. Other brand to be confident about is Red Line. That's the limit of my choices.

Filter: Motorcraft/OEM None better. (except maybe WIX, but they're kinda hard to find)

But this info is only if you want the best...
