Interesting...

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I haven't had a single kickback in the three weeks they've been installed (minus the first 48 hours). I suppose I may be lucky I'll take luck I guess!

To you guys that are having issues with these deflectors -
Are you using the little plastic "seating" tool when you install them? When I installed mine, I was surprised how difficult it was to slide the seating tool through the entire channel. In some spots, it took considerable force. I thought it was kind of silly to have to do that - but maybe it actually helped? Just a thought...

That's a bummer that some folks are having issues with them - I love mine!

Idk whats wrong with mine cause the weathertech rep installed mine and the driver window still kicks back every now and then. The passenger front has no problem. Maybe itll just work itself out in the next month or so.

I just got mine this weekend and so far so good. Only one kickback so far. Definitely like these better than tape style, they look so much better.

Default Installed them today

I have a 2012 FX4 S/cab. I was looking for information on deflectors and found this forum. I learned that stick-on deflectors are tacky and that people recommend WeatherTec. I also gained confidence about the installation, such as taking out the "L" shaped foam piece. I ordered them and they came today. Within 30 minutes I had them on the truck. No problem with installation. Got the dark tint which looks great on my white truck. Once they settle into the window, they should be just fine.

I found another item to recommend, that works wonderfully well. I have the built-in tailgate step which adds weight to the door. Opening the heavy tailgate was a problem when holding something ...that is, until I found the "Tailgate Assist," from Dee Zee. It's a simple, small pneumatic tube--like you find on a screen door--and fits into the gap on the inside of the tailgate. Open the tailgate and it gently lowers by itself. If that's an issue for you, check it out. It's an impressive bit of engineering.

Sorry to bump this older thread but I was wondering if anyone with the Weathertech window vents has had any problems hitting and damaging the vents when scraping ice of their side windows. My '09 has the OEM (I think) Ford accessory window vents that stick on the paint and I broke the right rear one while scraping ice off my windows in the big storm we just had. (I guess they got brittle over time.) So I have to replace the set.

The in-channel versions look much closer to the window than my current "stick on" vents so I'm concerned that they are more likely to get damaged when using an ice scraper.

What's everyone's experience with the Weathertech's or other in-channel designs?

I have the weathertech's in channel and love them now but it took about 6 months till I had no kickbacks. I would wait till summertime if you are going to go with them and leave the windows up as long as possible, weeks if you can. I also broke mine on my last truck the same way so now I only brush snow off and just use the defroster.

Just realized you have the '09...no kickback issues, never mind...

Not sure I understand this thread... I bought some weathertech inchannel window vents in febuary of 2011 for my 2011 screw. I installed them... left them in a day or two and took them off because I liked the look without them. I still have them in the original box if anyone wants them.

They had no problems that I am aware of.

Greg

I just added my weather techs to my 2013, its been 2 weeks. There are still kick backs. I am hoping the windows staying up alot will seat these visors. We will see if not i may have to take them out and go with peel/stick, i like the look of the weathertechs better. But i also want my auto up to work also.

I've had weathetchs before and they look great but I didn't even try to get them for my 2013. Don't want to deal with the kick back issue. I put the seamless kind on and they look good and don't look like stick on ones. They are made by AVS.

In my 2011 the in channel constantly caused my windows to retract. Main reason I may get Ford OEMs instead for my new truck.
