At 60 miles per day, over 22 work days power month, on average, that's roughly 1,300 miles per month. At 17 mpgs, your burning about 77 gallons a month. That's roughly $250 per month in fuel.
Slowing down to 65mph will likely get you to around 19 mpg. That will save you about $30 a month. But, you will spend roughly 10 extra minutes per day in traffic, or almost four extra hours per month.
So, is that extra time worth more than $7.50 per hour?

You mentioned that you rarely let it get empty. If you were to instead only fill to 1/2 tank and then run to E you might pick up a bit of mileage. If you have a 36 gal tank, that's 18 gallons. Gasoline is 6.2lb per gallon, so that's 111lbs less you could be hauling around.

efusilier - I noticed no one actually chimed in with ways to increase MPGs...So here is a couple of easy ones...
1) Reduce wieght (do not carry anything you do not need)
2) Make sure tires are properly inflated
3) Slow down on the highway

- remove unnecessary weight/clutter from the cab and box.
- turn-off TOW/HAUL unless towing.
- anticipate stops.
- insure that the emergency/parking brake releases.
- easy-on / easy-off the gas pedal.
- check front-end suspension components and if not within spec' replace.
- check front-end alignment.

I have all the mods you can get. CAI, exhaust, throttle body spacer, tuner...
With all this stuff installed, I got better l/100...especially on highway. Highway , 120km/hr, I get between 9 and 15
