Default Water leak over back window/ 2014 crew cab

Ok I've got a 2014 crew cab and it's got a leak over the back window on the passenger side. I've taken it in an they put a new third break light in it and tested it and said it was fixed. Well guess what, still leaking. Anybody else had this problem and what else did they have to do to finally fix it. I'm afraid it's gonna ruin the headliner.

It is a known, common problem - CHMSL (Center High Mount Stop Light) / 3rd brake light leak. *Gasket is the issue.

They never did fix it. My 13 leaked the day I got it off the lot. Put a strip of butyl tape around it. Problem solved.

The issue isn't the light itself, rather the cheap foam gasket used. My '13 leaked the day I got it. Pull the light off and either run a bead of silicone or butyl tape around it. Problem solved.

I bought my truck with a headliner stain that appeared to be from water but never understood where it came from. Never had a issue with it being wet since ownership but know I know. Thanks.

But won't the tape or silicone show or do you put it around the opening not the edge of the light?

Put it on the backside of the 3rd brake light housing. Butyl tape works pretty well as you can mold it to fit the housing and a little goes a long way.

I got the Recon smoked third brake light... Mainly because I hated the ugly OEM chrome one, but also because I had read about the leaky third brake light issues lots of people have. As soon as I pulled off the OEM one I was shocked at how much the gasket shrank and deteriorated. No problems with the Recon one, and it looks a million times better. Silicone, as others have stated, will fix it if you like the OEM one though and don't want to spend $90 on the Recon for the looks.
