Water leak in cab
#101
Well much to my discomfort about letting someone else fix my truck, I spoke to the dealership about the problem and they even replied that it's common. I am however going to let them fix it since the warranty still applies. As per our earlier posts, I'm definitely hitting the third brake light first, then I guess I'll whittle it down from there. I appreciate all the info, and will keep y'all updated...I'm not leaving my truck unattended so everyone will have full details...maybe that's just me though.

I would only take it in to Ford if it was serious and the the third brake light re-sealing wasn't the fix. You'll come out with scratches or ripped upholstery or who knows what when you go to dealerships.
Anyway, silicone works fine on and around the third light. If you ever have to open it back up again, just use some disc brake cleaner on a rag and it breaks apart the silicone and will dissolve.
I have also used this 3M strip caulk and would use it instead of silicone, unfortunately you have to buy a big box;

That's an interesting suggestion. Do you have a photo or link to a product you recommend? There are so many different types and styles of weather stripping (different profiles or cross-sections). Do you stick it to the truck cab body (paint), or to the back of the brake light lens? Or overlapping the gap between the cab and the lens?

Are you guys able to blow air inside of your light housing, from the outside? The gasket that is there originally did not touch that outside, and therefore you can blow air, moisture, dirt or whatever and it never touches the factory gasket. So, when I used two pieces of this 3m strip caulk to make a new seal, I could see that the gap between the lens and cab was still there. I reluctantly removed the light, and pushed the caulking all the way down to the edge of the light and tried to blow air in there, and it normally would fog up when I did and now nothing. No air could get in from the top or bottom. We shall see how the fix holds up when I wash it this next weekend or next time it rains. I never saw moisture except inside of the 3rd brake light housing, but that was going to be a matter of time till that pooled up and made its way inside the cab. Problem fixed! I almost let Ford fix it since its still under warranty but knowing them, those idiots would use a non-covered flathead screwdriver to remove the light and say that the scrapes and dented cab were already there. Lol. No thanks. Btw, I got this at O'Reilly's.

CaSCrew11 I am not following what you are saying. How were you blowing air into the light from the outside? I didn't do any type of pressure testing. Just made sure no more water intrusion during storms and washes.
As for the gasket that I made, it was one side sticky rubber seal and I placed it on the back side of the light where the original gasket belonged. This gasket did contact the cab and then compressed as I tightened the bolts.
I see that you used a type of caulk. It should do the job just fine if placed properly - may dry out and shrink tho during summer heat.

After a few days, water hose testing, then finally another decent rain, I've found that my cab still leaks after replacing the gasket for the third brake light. I pretty much half expected this. Murphy always has his say. Anyway, I've got the truck in the shop this time. We found an additional leak in the back glass. They're keeping it for a couple days to handle business. They claim it was the seal around the glass. I haven't looked into any tightening of bolts for the back glass and don't even know if these newer ones are designed like that. This is going to be a learning experience for me. After a few conversations with a few of the people I know and trust up there, I believe everything is gonna work out fine. But after this round, i would like to think I can take matters into my own hands. I just hate to tackle something like removing the back glass though.

I've had an 09 Platinum since June of 2009 and kept it garaged. I've noticed moisture on the drivers side floor board over the winter, but thought it was the heavy snow and tracking it into the vehicle. I finally noticed mold on the floormat and the carpet was not drying out.
I've had the truck back to the dealer six times for water leaks since April of 2010. They've sent it to two separate leak specialists and I've been told the problem was fixed each time. I've had water pooling on the drivers side floor and soaked all the way back to the rear passenger door.
They "found and repaired the problem" and replaced the carpet because it was "nasty" and the truck was starting to smell musty and moldy. Also had an ant infestation under the carpet (they were apparently coming in through the firewall).
They've caulked the wiring harness coming through the front firewall and replaced all door seals on the drivers side door and said the problem was "solved".
I left the truck in my driveway to see if it was still getting wet. Last episode...picked it up Friday, it rained Sunday and the passengers rear seat was covered in water. Headliner was dripping and water running down the back window, rear firewall, and carpet was soaked. Underside of seat is visibly rusted.
I emptied the truck and parked it at the dealer service center that night with both sets of keys.
They say the rear brakelight was the problem...but will provide no guarantee that the truck will no longer leak. They've agreed to replace the carpet again, replace the headliner, etc.
I'm going to pursue legal action to have the truck replaced...love the truck, hate the mold and water. Ford says the truck is not eligible for their replacement program. I'm already having electrical problems with the headrest DVDs and will not continue to take the truck back to the dealer everytime it gets wet. The mold smell is obvious.
I have a hard time believing FORD thinks it is acceptable to have a brand new vehicle brought back six times in less than three months for the same problem. The service manager asked me to call Ford to get the problem elevated and to have a Field Service Engineer (FSE) came out to inspect the vehicle. The FORD rep on the phone told me to take it back to the service manager. An FSE did inspect the vehicle and agrees that the third break light is the problem and that the truck has had multiple leaks. The FSE will not provide a written guarantee that the vehicle will not leak or agree to replace the vehicle if it does leak again.
Anyone have any suggestions?

2010 F150 leaks
We asked our dealer here in Seattle and they said they knew about it but I was 1k miles over warranty and they want $800 to fix it. Comes through sunglass case holder. Windshield has never been replaced and no Sirius antenna.

I had this repaired once I just noticed that it is leaking again. I just called the dealership and the service guy told me that they recently (last 3-4 months) changed out the 3rd brake light to a newer design specifically for this problem. He said that one of the service guys has had to replace it in his own truck 3 times before this new light came out. I'm dropping my truck off at the dealership later today to get the new light put in.
Hey Lokkie, you wouldn't have a part number for that new and improved 3rd brake light would you? TIA having same problem.
