I took mine in yesterday and the guy said it'd be around 300$ but 2 hours later when they were finished it was only 161$. IDK if he hooked me up or just guessed wrong but I was happy. He confirmed that there is a TSB out on it but Ford won't put out a recall. You can tell the new one has a way better gasket and it also sits closer to the edge of the cab. Thanks everyone for your input. The new one has a 12 month 12k mile warranty but let's hope this one doesn't leak!

I have a 2013 FX4. I noticed that after about a week of ownership, the windows would always fog up inside. Everyone knows that windows fog for 2 reasons: They are either dirty or there is other moister on the cabin interior.

I thought mine were just dirty so I cleaned them every day. I also began hearing a gurgle coming from the driver side door general area but again just wrote it off as 'normal'. Then one day I checked under the floor mat looking for a lost paper and I noticed the floor was soaked on the driver's side. So soaked in fact that it had soaked the driver side rear carpet as well.

I have taken it to the dealership where they are water testing it. They've had it for 4 days now and say that they can't make it leak.

Has anyone experienced this type of water leak?

Remember this is on the drivers side and not the passenger side. Also, it's clear the leak is in the front and not from the 3rd brake light in the rear because of how the water is concentrated.

Yes, I have a sunroof but the dealer has already confirmed it is not coming from there.

I had the same problem under the drivers side mat. (2011 FX4 screw) The dealer fixed it on the first try. It was a body seam behind the drivers side fender. They said is was missing seam sealer from the factory. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the suggestion. I had a chevy with that problem. I just called the dealer and passed that on to them. They're going to check it.

I'll post back with any updates.

Dealer called today and said they removed all the carpet and padding and left it outside to monitor (it's been raining the past 3 days). They said it began leaking heavily through the 3rd brake light like all the rest that have been posted here. They watched it for an additional day and have put everything back in.

We'll see if it remains fixed.

Default UPDATE: Leak remains but new cause found

So it rained again last week and it leaked again...wet carpet. Took it in this past Friday and they kept it over the weekend and found the leak today.

I had an accessories place install a roll top bed cover when I first got the truck about 6 weeks ago.

This is where it gets crazy.

The accessories place installed the drain tubes so that they ran out of the bed of the truck just like they should but then ran them INTO the air vents located in the rear of the cab interior. I don't even know how that is possible.

The interior of the truck is taken completely apart and you are looking at the metal of the cab and the air ventilation in the lower rear of the cab.

Check out the picture. You can see the drain tube in the lower right corner of the vent.

So, a warning to anyone that has a bed cover with a drain installed. Check the drain tube location and function before calling it good.

We'll see if this stops the leak but I think it will...

That is crazy! I would take that to the "accessories place" and ask them how and why, that had occurred and who knows, they may be
able to compensate you somehow? Either way, I'm sure glad that Ford was able to find that and things worked out. :-)

My faith in humanity has been somewhat restored by what follows.

1. Because this was caused by an aftermarket accessory this was no longer considered a warranty issue.

2. I was then liable to Ford for the bill because it wasn't a warranty issue.

I called the accessories place and they came down to the Ford dealership and took a look. The accessories guy called me and owned up to their mistake and apologized and paid the entire bill without me even having to get involved.

Every good company has a bad day now and then. This turns out to be a good company and ended well.

My truck is barely out of warranty and I have this problem with the A pillar. Anyone in a similar situation that took their truck to the dealer? I'm just curious if if the dealer still covered it or will in my situation since there is a TSB.

It depends on the dealer. Because there is as TSB they would be more inclined to help if you go to them with 'hat in hand'.

Water leaks after warranty are difficult to get covered because Ford specifically excludes 'water leaks' from all of their extended care warranties. It's in the fine print.

Your only hope is the existing TSB, the actual time out of warranty and the 'kindly' nature of your service manager. Each dealership does have some leeway in covering some items past warranty.

I can promise you will catch more water leaks with honey than with vinegar when it comes to the service dept.
