Default warranty notice to visiting owners

monday morning i went to the dealer for my scheduled appointement, oil change and a few warranty items to be done. i was greeted by the service advisor, was told that a new policy is in effect immediately and that basically i and any other client was no longer wanted as a non-paying client.........service manager left for holidays and will be back in three weeks......here is what the letter he handed me says:
WARRANTY NOTICE TO VISITING OWNERS
NO WARRANTY WORK AUTHORIZED ON VISITING OWNERS VEHICLES(VEHICLES NOT SOLD BY XXXXX DEALERS NAME HERE XXXXX) UNLESS EMERGENCY/UNIT DOWN-TRAVELLING CUSTOMER VEHICLE IS NOT FUNTIONAL.
ALL VISITING OWNERS WARRANTY CONCERNS NEED SERVICE MANAGER REVIEW AND PRIOR APPROVAL AUTHORIZATION BY SERVICE MANAGER BEFORE ANY WORK ORDER WRITE-UP
signed by service manager i assume

how do you like that?

Of course all warranty repairs require service manager approval. That's nothing new.

But if this dealership is trying to say that it will only approve of warranty repairs on vehicles its sold that's another matter. Ford would love to hear about that.

I don't think this letter is very groundbreaking, from the information you've provided.

Thats odd when Ford pays the dealership for warranty work. I know some dealers say they get screwed by ford on the hours and labor rate of warranty work.

the dealership is saying that it will only provide warranty to vehicles they sold unless it is an emergency repair.i called ford and the rep called them, they are standing firm on this.i am guessing that there is a problem between ford warranty and them.

This is the very very common with the RV dealers. if you did not buy from them, they outright refuse to do warranty work on your unit.

I guess some car dealers also want to go that way. I hope the car manufacturers do not allow this. RV manufacturers condone their dealer's approach of no warranty if not purchased here.

Who is the dealer. I'll make sure to never do business with them.

I can attest to that fact, main reason I left the dealer, warranty pay is unreasonably low, example: Replace body wiring harness 2000 Lincoln Towncar, 8.2 hrs

Actual repair time 23.7. Can't feed my family with pay like that so I found greener pastures.

The list goes on and on for every single repair under warranty. Go over to www.flatratetech.com and ask them.

I can also attest to that. Although I am in the paint dept, not huge hours like you described but just last week...

Basic paint on a 2014 escape mirror cover under warranty... 0.2 hours, which is equal to 12 minutes. Actual time to scuff, prep, tape, mix sealer, apply, mix basecoat, apply, mix clear coat, apply, plus bake time, and tine to clean my spray guns....1.2 hours. Or 1 hour, 12 minutes.
