Yea I left my resonator in. The shop wanted to remove it to make it louder. I wasn't really interested. It is perfect just how it is and plus no drone. I can cruise on the highway without being annoyed. That is a 40 series Flowmaster. I paid $450 for everything. A lot cheaper than the kits and they did a great job in my opinion. Hope it helps you a little.

Now I'm also considering a MBRP catback. Just listened to a few vids and looked them up on eBay. They look pretty high quality. Especially the stainless version. Any suggestions on whether or not to go stainless or anodized aluminum. Sound difference between the two metals? etc.

I've had a kit system that I installed on a past F150 and hated having to remove my spare tire just to be stored in the bed. ARGH!!!

Quite frankly, I don't think there are any dual out the rear system kits by any manufacturer that leave the spare tire in place. Things are just too tight around the spare tire and leaf spring assembly. And, I don't think there is much spare room for a larger spare tire for the same reason.

This time I went with a Magnaflow 14" SIDO along with 3 1/2" dual wall tips, 30-degree angle cut that I purchased on Amazon. Took those parts to a quality muffler shop, described the exit / look I wanted, and let them do the rest. My spare tire is still in place and I absolutely love the look. The sound is totally awesome as well, without being crazy. Yes, it's presence is known. Yes, there is a little bit of drone above 75 MPH. Otherwise it's all good.

Edited: Oh, the custom installed cost was $300 and was first class all the way.

Here are a couple pics of the installation. Totally unique; a bit of a throwback. At least to those that were around and working on their own engines in the 70s and early 80s.

I called Magnaflow today and asked about the removal of the spare. I told him how some people it seems didnt have to remove the spare. He said that imposible there is no way it could possably be installed with out the spare bening taken off. He said 2010's could od it but not newer years. He said the kit leaves the Res on as far as he new. anyone with the kit know if thats the case or not?

No, the muffler and tips were about $174 shipped. The muffler shop provided everything else. My total cost was $474. Believe me that beats the heck out of a kit that can cost more and not look nearly as good.
