Voice-entered Nav destination- this work for anybody?

My 2013 voice control for the Nav stinks as well. It is MUCH more distracting trying to go through all the steps to set a destination for 10 minutes via voice command (for it not to work most of the time) vs. having my wife type it in from the friggin passenger seat. But Nooooo. I have to pull over for her to do that. Come on Ford, you can tell somebody is sitting in the passenger seat and turn on an air bag, but can't figure out a way to let a passenger enter an address while moving down the road LOL.
This is the first vehicle I have purchased with built in Nav. I wish I would have saved my $995.00 My I-phone works just fine, with much less frustration.

I had no info on how to use the System when I bought the truck. Hell the salesman threw me the keys and said" go gas it up and drive her around". I am still learning mine as well. I was able to use the system once, but then I could not get the computer to stop or end the route once I arrived.

I've never had a problem in either my 2010 or now 2013. Voice entry works great pretty much every time and is super convenient.
Not being able to enter addresses while moving is not just a Ford thing. I'm pretty sure it is a requirement in all cars built in the last few years.
With that said, paying the crazy price for in dash navigation is crazy except for the fact that you have to get it in order to get some other neat stuff. I would much rather pay a couple of hundred for a portable unit that stays up to date forever for free and that I can take other places besides just in my truck.

I did google around and found a few you tube videos showing the Ford Nav. Ford even has a whole set of them with a woman in a cut-away car. Even she doesn't use the voice Nav, she demonstrates typing it in and then talks about how you can finish it with voice commands. I couldn't find a single example of anyone using the 2013 Nav to enter a destination by address.

I have on my 2013 a few times and it has been ok. Have to follow the commands:
"Navigation" | "Destination address" | "123 main street townname"
Then it tells you what to say to start the navigation. I forget now.

I had no idea you could speak the destination into Sync. Can't wait to try it out on my '12 (where it sounds like it works a little better than the newer MFT).

sharper, I used the SYNC directions in my '11 while on a westward trip last year. It was much easier to use the voice commands, and if you needed you could talk to a real person. I'm fairly sure if I would use the nav more, it would get easier.

After discovering that this works for some folks, I played with it some more. I was able to get it to correctly understand addresses with simple street names like "Main Street" but street names with multiple words and street names that aren't real words (lots of Indian names here in Florida) weren't recognized. It doesn't offer any way to correct the parts of the address that are incorrect, but instead, makes you start all over.....or even worse, makes you pull over and stop so you can use the keyboard.....I don't know....It just doesn't work well for me.
I've managed to find work-arounds for the Sync/MFT shortcomings, but haven't cracked this one. For now, the truck Nav remains in the "I got suckered" category for stuff that I've bought. It's an ok feature and in the big scheme of things, not a significant cost compared to the truck overall, but still....I know the guys that wrote and tested it knew that it didn't work well. Heck, even Ford skips over demo'ing it in their corporate How-To videos. They know it sucks. They sell it anyway. That's disappointing.
