Fordtechman is right, it is no sweat if you take your time. He used the wire in the kick panel because he did most of his wiring over on that side. I decided to use the wire right behind the radio because I already had the radio out and for me that wire was easiest to get to. I was wrong with H2/6, it is suppose to be H2/16. You don't see it on the install manual because Viper has not updated the install sheet, they have grouped together a lot of the harnesses into one. Do a quick search for "viper 5901 quick reference" and that diagram is the newer version that you'll receive. You'll have to program the defroster to work though. I wish I would have bought a bitwriter, it is quite tedious to program without one.

How did you guys update the PKALL? Do you have to but a interface box for it to plug into computer, or does it come with a USB cable?

Default No more questions - for now!

Well, I did it - THANK YOU to you guys!!!!

I did not install the Viper 5901, yet. Instead, I used my old Viper 160xv that I took out of my old truck.

I matched up the wiring description from the 5901 to the wires on the 160xv and everything went smooth. Remind you, the 160xv DOES NOT have half the wires the 5901 has, but at least for now I have a truck I can start in the dead cold of the winter.

As for the old bypass box... it was a XK04 (FKFORD) and I don't think it will work - haven't tried programming it yet because it is so old I figured it was a waste of my time. As of right now, I just leave the key in the ignition and it works OK that way.

My truck is parked in a secure lot, so theres not worries there while at work.

Thanks again, everyone - and especially to MNFX4 and TECHMAN for being so patient with me and not making me feel like an idiot!!!

I hope one day I can repay or pay forward the favor!

Jon

Hey guys, thanks for all your help and info

Another relatively simple question... if you lock/unlock with factory key fob or the touch panel, does it arm/disarm the viper system?

Thanks,
Jon

No... You added the Viper system "on top" of the factory. You can still unlock your doors with the fob and keypad but the Viper alarm will still go off because the factory alarm does not communicate with the Viper.
