Vibration/Noise in FWD on HYWY

I have a 2013 FX4. On the HYWY in conditions that require 4WD (snow, ice, wet) under any load, the transfer case emits a vibration and rumble. I had a 07 Tacoma before this and it was silky smooth and noise free under the same conditions, you did not even know it was in 4WD.

So I was disappointed that his truck exhibits the traits I describe. Is this indicative of these vehicles when in 4WD ?

I'm hoping this is not right and needs attention but am skeptical as I owned a 03 Ranger and it's 4WD system was terrible at best, until I got the Tacoma I thought that is the way they are, not so the Tacoma demonstrated !

Why are you in 4wd on the highway?

On dry pavement? Mine makes a slight whine but you have to really listen but I never use mine on dry conditions.

Humm, a vibe or rumble in 4x4 on the road would be normal if there wasn't, snow, mud or conditions to allow for slippage.

Had an '05 Dodge Ram Cummins 4x4 and later an '08 Nissan Frontier 4x4 and with both you definately knew it was in 4WD by feel and both an ever so slight rumble.

I have not tried to engage my '13, FX4 into 4WD as I have not had terrain availible to me yet that would allow for safe useage.

Please read my post more closely, snow, ice, wet HYWY, very common here in Colorado.

I'm well aware of when and when not to drive in 4WD.

If these trucks are supposed to be nearly no difference between 2WD/4WD, that being quiet and smooth, mine is not right,

Just asking others experience in similar conditions.

I have an 06 so different body style but mine is always silky smooth. Have even used it on dry pavement and it's smooth.

Well that nice to know they can or are supposed to be that way. I'll be going to the dealer with this, not looking forward to it !

Could also have to do with your tires and maybe not stretching the 4wd legs often enough.

It's only got 10k on it, new from my perspective. They are either right or not out of the factory.

I noticed mine whining in 4X4 the other day with the rear slider opened. So I had to take my 90 F250 for a spin and was quiet as could be.
