Very weird drown/vibration 2010 screw 4x4, Ford techs?
So I'm having a vibration/drown issue with my truck. It has always done it maybe once a month since I've owned it but after pulling a trailer 2 weekends in a row a few weeks ago it doing it all the time. The vibration comes and goes and its usually above 40mph and it gets worse on the highway. Its not tire related but it seems to be rotational. It may do it very lightly when decelerating but its mainly under a load like while driving up hills. So far I've replaced the front u joint for the rear driveshaft but that made no difference. I've also took a look in the diff but nothing really seemed out of place. I'm a Lexus tech by day but I have to say this has me stumped. I've googled issues for weeks but nothing stands out. I've also talked to a few Ford tech I know but haven't really got any useful info from either one. I was told to replace the rear diff clutches but I just can't see them making this type of noise but I could be wrong. The noise can be felt and heard throughout the truck but seems to be towards the rear. The truck has right at 83k on the clock and has been great until this issue came up. Any advice would be helpful, thanks.

My truck does the same thing. It comes in at a low speed and low rpms after the truck has warmed up. I took mine back to ford and they say 09-10's do that. It has me stumped too.

That's weird because mine pretty much just started. One of my Ford tech buddies says he will have his suspension guy look at mine so I'm going to take it to him next week. Hopefully we can figure something out. If I have to I will trade it in but I like my truck and I like my payment...

Mine started around 75k miles. I love the truck but the noise is aggravating and kinda embarrassing especially since I'm in a carpool. Let me know what you find out.

Me too, since new, usually in fifth gear while towing uphill, it sounds like it is trying to go into 4WD or rumble strips. 57,000 mile later, it still does it but nothing has broken.

If you're experiencing this vibration, your next step should be to have it diagnosed at the dealership. Need my help after your visit? Just send a PM my way and I'll see what I can do; be sure to include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership.
