Very impressed with Collinite 845 Wax

I did my truck back in February and it still beads water like crazy. I plan to go ahead and put another coat on soon as the weather gets somewhere close to less than inside an oven on broil.

I was reading this post the other day, then I did a little research on Collinite 845 on google and couldn't find one negative review, so I decided to order a bottle. I clay barred my truck, applied a polish, and then finished it off with Collinite 845. I honestly don't think I'll ever use another wax. I was very impressed as well. It even shined up the black plastic trim. I used my DA to apply it, and I didn't even make a dent in the bottle.

I used a turtle wax ice product that i had around the house. I found it works great on the rubber, but doesn't come off very well on the paint. I'll be looking for a different product when i do this again. I would like to find a more professional product that is easier to work with.
You should try Optima Hyper Spray polish. I used it with my 6" polisher and was really happy with the results. Slings a little if put on too thick but does not leave behind stains if wiped in a decent time frame. It is easy on and easy off with no dusting.
I buy it at a well known detailing mecca in your city.

It Stinks in Here...
Is there a product that will shine up the black plastic trim? It looks really dull to me. I am afraid to use wax on it as it is textured. Also, how do you keep the dust off your trucks and is there a product that will repel dust? I have to park in a stone parking lot at work and no matter how often I wash my truck, it will be dusty within a few hours. My old truck was tan and it didn't show the dust like the red does that I have now.

Clean with simple green
Coat with turtle wax ice polish
Buff polish off (it comes off well on the rubber and plastic)
Coat with collinite 845
As for dust, I also live in a dusty area due to all the new construction around my place and it has been a hassle. However, since I did my coats of collinite over the weekend, the dust seems to fall off when I drive. I swear nothing sticks to that product. Even when it rained I had a hard time finding water spots.

This past weekend I washed, clayed, polished and then waxed my truck with collinite 845. The 845 goes on so easy and removal is just as easy. It turned out great. It's so smooth and shiny now.

Collinite really is some great wax. It can be a little hard to work with if you apply it too thick though, so make sure you put on very thin and evenly, or you'll end up noticing some wax streaks in the sun especially on black paint. As far as durability goes, the 476 paste is more durable than the 845 liquid, but slightly harder to take off if you accidentally apply it too thick.
You won't be getting anywhere around 1 year durability unless you put the wax on and have the truck sit for a year in a climate controlled garage never driven. Figure 4-6 months with 476 and 3-5 for 845, and that's if you've gotten all of the contamination off of the paint through claying and polishing, and used a pre-wax paint cleanser to help get the wax the proper surface so that it can bond well to the clearcoat, and pretty much garage it. So you really want to shoot for at least one waxing per 3 months to ensure that the truck is pretty much always protected with a wax.
Collinite is great because it can get you through the winter better than most waxes, it looks great, easy to use if you apply light coats, and it's cheap. Most over the counter comparably priced waxes won't last more than a few weeks, and professional waxes or sealants, you'll be hard pressed to find one that lasts as long that is cheaper than Collinite, none are coming to mind for me.

I prefer Mother's wax over the Collinite I bought - simply because the Mothers is a cleaner and wax and it seems the Collinite is just a wax. I get better water beading with the Mothers too.
