I just bought my xlt last week and had a similar issue at about 200 miles. When my shifter is in "D" I have to tap it up and the gear display comes back on. Not sure if yours is doing this but its worth a shot to avoid a trip to the dealer.

That's cool. It probably defaults to the mode it was shut off in with the new software. I bet if you bump the plus it will stay up until you toggle the + again

Maybe. To me it seems like the shifter needs to actually hit the switch. I'm am far from up to speed on these trucks so maybe that is a part of the software update my truck was built 10/11.

Mine is a February build and acts the same as yours. The display is never on until I turn it on with the +, so maybe its not a software update. But maybe a default that the dealer can program into the display when they upload the software.

Chiming in on this, if someone has the update done and knows what it was let us know. Or the reason you had the truck in.

Sorry, when I say shifter I mean the actual column lever(?). It seems like it has to be lifted towards the neutral selection to re-light the forward gear display.

bottom gear indicator still works and if I go to manual mode, the side[verticle] indicator shows what gear I'm in.
The procedure to activate / deactivate is explained in our owners manuals I actually did the same thing awhile back and had that same feeling of WTF just happened!

It's sounds like you may need an adjustment then.
