Default V8 vs EcoBoost

Hi guys was at the deal earlier today looking for a truck. We had a conversation about V8 vs Ecoboost. He said he has had both and got better gas mileage with the V8 for in town driving. He said since I am not planning on doing any towing with the truck and just in town driving. He thought the V8 would get better gas mileage. Any truth to this?

Thanks,

Nick

I can't say anything on the v8. I just got a 13 Eco a few months ago and I average 17 mpg
City and Hwy. I will tell you I have taken about 2 long hwy trips and averaged about 20 mpg. Also I drove both, but fell in love with the Ecoboost's power.

Fuel mileage differences seem to be marginal. My lifetime average in the 5.0 is around 17 mpg. Probably 65-70% in city Just get the truck you want

In town every truck is nearly identical and so is every car unless it's a hybrid. So I would base my decision on that. They are both generally reliable. The Eco has more power everywhere and will kill the 5.0 is low end torque. But even used the Eco commands a premium so you need to decide if you want the more powerful engine with the same city mog and a couple better mpg on hwy or get the cheaper less powerful engine. No different than choosing between an accord 4 cylinder and the v6.
