I always try to buy the biggest engine size I can for a vehicle. 6.2 all the way. This is not to say the 5.0 is bad, but if given the choice between sitting there with a vehicle wishing for a bigger engine, versus wishing for a smaller engine, better to wish for a smaller engine due to the 1-2 mpg difference than to wish for a bigger engine due to better horsepower, or even needing to tow.

5.0 guy, you specified your needs and they dont justify the 6.2. Its great to be the big guy on the block but there is no need. Someone stated it well, if your going to be towing heavy loads on a daily basis then I could understand. We have had a 5.4 forever and suites peoples needs just fine, now the 5.0 has more HP and TQ so I guess it just depends on your ultimate needs and should I say wants. Good luck

5.0, the 4v is where it's at. Based on your needs i'd say the 5.0 for sure. Even if you find out you need more power(I doubt you will) down the road a cold air kit, cat back exhaust and a tune with a programmer would put you on an even playing field with the 6.2. The $6k price tag for the 6.2 isn't worth it. I would rather spend my money on a supercharger and then your 5.0 is well past the 6.2 in power and better on mpg.

My vote would be the 6.2 or the eco boost. I always try to think about what will be best for resale too. The 4.6 was not as good for resale as the 5.4 so I'm going with the same theory about the 5.0. I am thinking of buying a 2011 f150 but I am not doing anything till I can drive a eco boost. I am also considering a f250 or a Ram 2500 diesel. I can make up my mind.

I can't wait to test drive the 6.2 and 5.0 back to back. Maybe next week. I still wish they made an f150 diesel

I'm waiting for the call that they have in a 6.2L. I cant wait to test drive it! I can imagine it is going to make the F-150 feel pretty light.

What ever engine you choose, I wish Ford
would come out with a two (2) speed rear end
like the 18 wheelers have. You would have the
lower gears for towing when needed and high
gear for daily driving..

This 4, 5 and 6 speed computer controller auto
trannies doesn't cut it for me. The "Tow/Haul"
button is a joke. Tranny is *hunting* all the
time when pulling a travel trailor and a lot of the
time driving with no load.

Too bad Ford dropped the manual tranny on the
150's. Not a good idea in my book...

have you even looked at the new select shift on the F150????? it has range select(you can choose how many gears to use IE, 1-4, 1-3, 1-5) and has a full manual. the tow haul button is awsome and works great. If this is the first you have heard about this then welcome to the 2011 F150.
