Used purchase question
Hello, I was originally hoping to talk the wife into a great deal on a new 14 F150 SCREW but that just isn't going to be in our budget. So, now I am looking at used ones.
I have found a really nice low mileage 2010 4x4 SCREW XLT. 3.55 limited slip, trailer tow package, revere sensing, and only has 20,000 miles. They want $23,995 but have had it for a long time so thinking might be motivated to move it. It had originally started at $29k.
Is there anything that I should look out for on this truck. It has the 5.4 engine. I know they changed to the 5.0 in 2011 and of course offered the 3.5. I know the 5.0 might be a little better on gas but probably not that much. The main appeal that this truck has to me is its very low mileage as I plan on keeping it for many years. 5-7 years at least.
I am not in any big rush to trade so if any recommends that the 5.4 engine isn't a good deal and waiting for a 5.0 would be better or a 3.5 then that is possible as well. I just know that a newer used in that price range is much much higher mileage.
This would be my very first truck. Not sure what limited slip axle would do for me in normal driving situations, but I think it is better than regular so I am at least looking for limited slip or locking.
I appreciate all and any feedback

Right now you can buy a new 14 STX 4x4 S-cab pretty nicely equipped with the 5.0 running boards, upgraded wheels etc for under $27,000! That's in the Twin City metro area.

I'd stay away from the 5.4 and try and find something different.

Thanks for the feedback. I might try and take a look at it. It is back where my wife is from and we will be going there in a couple of weeks. Like I said, it is mainly the low mileage that is sucking me in on the 2010. I too don't drive a a lot, about 10k to 12k a year so that would be nice. I wouldn't rule out a 40k or 50k 11 or 12 truck either but those are still going for $26-$30k and I just can't afford that right now.
Like I said, I have never owned a truck before but I do know that I want a Ford. Looking for some more room when we go camping and pulling the pop up.
Apprecitate the help and will let everyone know when I get something.

Well my 2010 4.6L has 185k on it and is running fine. All depends on how the previous owner maintained it, but with that few miles, it's probably fine. But that price does seem pretty high, it really isn't much more for a new one, and you should be able to get better financing through ford if you can qualify. I kinda regret buying my 2010 back in August, I could get a fantastic deal right now.

Ok, so the 2010 I was considering fell through. Sold before I was able to look at it. So the search continues.
I have found 2 different 2011 SCREWS.
1. 11 Ecobost XLT, 3.73 Off road package, Sterling Gray. 55,000 they want 24,995
Like the color better than the second one. Have never driven an Eco, but don't have anything against them.
2. 11 5.0 XTR, 3.73 Off road package, Race Red, 51,000 they want 23,995
Not my top color choice but could live with it. Has the longer bed on it, and really don't want the extra length for driving, but not a deal breaker.
Both trucks are comparable equipped. Which would be a better one to go with? The Eco? The one I like best? They are both great trucks? I personally would lean more towards the first one just because of the color. I am confused by the XTR package, and the Carfax says it was from Canada? Is that just an option package that is offered on Canadian trucks? Looks just like the XLT. Are the any concerns or anything in particular to look for on the Ecobost motor at that mileage? I will have this truck for many, many years. Looks like the used market will is starting to become more numerous as guys are trading for the new truck.
Thanks for your input again!
