Use Hood Alarm for Tailgate?
I've been looking for a local company to add a pin or magnet alarm switch on my tailgate and tie it into the factory alarm (I don't want to install a 2nd alarm system or carry a 2nd keyfob).
I've called several local companies (sadly many have gone out of business), all want to install a 2nd system.
It occurred to me that the truck hood should have an alarm if opened, and if so, can I disconnect that alarm switch, run the wire from that point to the tailgate and install an alarm switch (pin or magnet) on the tailgate and hook it up to that wire?
Is this possible? Anyone do this? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

If you open the hood & the alarm goes off then I would say
yes you could disconnected it there & run it to the tailgate.
I would tie it in temporaraly & see if it works
