I hope the folder with the # track setting will work, I really do because if it doesn't, then FORD should be embarrassed and really needs to get involved because software is suppose to make life easier, not harder!

The last thing you need while driving down the road at 65mph is to have unnecessary problems with your radio, come on FORD, don't be stupid!

And if it's Microsoft's fault, well, ok, I expect this from them.

I'll report my results in the AM and again thanks everyone!
I am not sure anyone is at "fault" in this situation for anything except possibly not having playlists work like they should. What are they supposed to do? Software cannot magically intuit the order we each want our songs played. The system needs to use some mechanism to order songs, and like iTunes, SYNC uses the track tag.

And Microsoft just provides the operating system.

One of the easy ways to do this is to open a new text document in notepad. List your songs in the order you want them to play. Save the document as a .m3u file in the root of your thumb drive.

Thanks! Did this work for you? I did try this but unfortunately it did not work. Can you cut and paste a few lines from one of your .m3u files so I can understand the structure necessary to get it to work? Again, thanks!

So is this resolved or are you still fighting with it?

nullname, just list the songs like this:

Stormy Monday.mp3
Layla.mp3
Desperado.mp3

You may have to list them with the letter of the thumb drive like:
f:/Layla.mp3
etc....
For whatever reason, one of my sticks needed that drive specification and the other one didn't. Probably has to do with format differences or some such thing.

Then save the file (list) as something like favorites.m3u

On my truck, 2013 with MyTouch, I needed to go to the usb settings to select "re-index usb" or something similar to that the first time you use it so it recognizes the changes.

I know you want to do this without downloading any software but you may want to try Playlist Creator 3.6.2 which is free and has no ads or viruses. (no affiliation with them, blah blah...)
It does the same thing as the manual method but it makes it easier to add blocks of music or rearrange the playing order.

Use a program called MediaMonkey. You can tag tracks in batches and it's so much faster. Been using it for about 5 years. It's free and no ads!!!

PM me if you have some questions. I can help ya out.

I use a 16gb flash drive
I copied my music from the "my music" directory. no I tunes or that crud
then i made a few playlist in the media player and copied them to the drive
works pretty darn well.

only weird issue is every now and then it will randomly go to radio when i first turn on the radio,

I wish i could figure out the logo rhythm for when you select PLAY all
It jsut screws with my head because of the wild shift of genres on my usb flash drive,

Thanks guys for keeping me up on this.

The last thing I tried was designating my thumb drive as the "Library" in Media Player and then clicking Create Playlist which made a folder on the thumb drive called Playlist.

I made two playlists called "Test" and "Test #2"

Then I selected a few songs from different artists and added them to both.

I had to wait about 30 seconds for the truck to show the Playlist folder, in which I saw both Test and Test #2 listed. To my shock the files were listed in the order I arranged back on my computer.

I noticed the truck will cycle right into the next playlist (it went from Test to Test #2) which was fine.

So I will experiment with this a bit more, however, I did these exact same steps with the prior version of Sync and this did not work, I have a feeling this has been improved.

The main point was to designate the USB as the Library.

I appreciate everyone's help and if I have any more issues creating my actual playlists I'll chime in again.
