I just ordered 275/70r18 GY DuraTracs for my truck. Upsizing notwithstanding, I like to rotate in the spare to get the most out of each tire so I ordered 5 of them. I'm so looking fwd to getting rid of the stock tires! I too am curious to know how large of a spare will fit.

One option as opposed to dropping $200 for a matching spare would be to find a used tire on Craigslist closer in diameter.

I still haven't changed mine ...I went from 32 to 33.....I do plan on changing it though. What I did last time I upsized my ranger was go to a used tire joint and traded my new spare for a used tire of the right size. They only charged me 20$ or so. Of course this might be harder to do if your new size is 34 or 35".

I have 34" spare and there is still some room...a 35 Might be cutting it close. You can also bend the heat shield slightly but the main choke point is the bumper.

Do you have factory or aftermarket exhaust?

Factory. I have considered dumping it.

My spare is a Toyo AT2 275/65R20 and there is 3/4" between the rubber and the hitch at the rear bumper.

I dropped my spare since it was the OEM anyway and figured it would just get in the way of putting the exhaust on.

Once we got it on we knew it wouldn't have happened if the spare was there. Doesn't do me any good anyway since it is 32'' versus my 34s. Now it sits in the middle of my garage and I park over it every day. :P

I had a tire blow out when I was in Alaska, so bad that it wasn't useable again, so the spare was put on the main running rim. I then found a brand new spare Continental tire at the junk yard that came off of a recently totaled Super Duty.. $40 for a brand new tire!! The whiskers were still on the tread.. Its a 285/75R18 so its a little larger than the stockers and a higher load rating.. I now run a 305/75/R17 and am glad the spare is now closer to what i am running now, it also doesn't hang any lower than the original spare..

A 35" tire will fit. But wouldn't do anything wider then 12.50" unless lifted cause of approach and departure angles.
