Upgrading my radar detector?
I currently have a escort passport x50 in my 2010 f150. I have been thinking about getting a Valentine 1. Have any of you guys had experience with both? I do not speed very often, but like the extra protection in my vehicle. Thanks.

I run a V1 and will never switch. Father has two Passports with the GPS and both of us hate them. He is selling them and buying V1. They may beep more often than the passports but I love the protection of rear facing radar as well.

It's kind of like a ford vs Chevy argument. I run the escort 9500 and couldn't be any happier with it. It has a lot less false alarms than my 8500 ever had. I have been with friends on 2 occasions that got pulled over with valentines, they never went off. Both times the cop got them driving towards them. The cops were asked how they were caught and were told radar was running constantly.

I have both a V1 and Escort Passporti 9500ix. I love the arrows on the V1, but it misses some radars and gives a ton of false alerts, but again the arrows are nice. The 9500ix with the Escort Live direct wire is an overall better detector in my opinion based on a lot of driving experience with both. The Assport has better detecting range which is a double edge sword as it picks up radars so far out you begin to wonder it there really is one out there.

9500ix with direct wire smart cord. I don't generally log on except for long highway drives. I have never owned a V1 but when deciding which unit to get I opted for the 9500ix due to GPS. Drive by the same false alarm 3 or 4 times and it locks that signal out.
As stated above, best $500 I spent, and sometimes it's so far out you are like WTF and then a mile layer BAM there he is! The downfall, and is with any radar is the instant on! If you have people ahead of you, you might pick it up but if you are alone your prob getting a ticket!
As far as directional arrows, if I pass a cop and my detector is still going crazy, I am pretty sure there is another one ahead or he busted a u turn. And I don't care what direction, front, back, or either side, if the detector goes off, I slow down until it is gone for a couple of miles.
