Default upgrade to 2013 for same payment

i got an interesting message from my Ford dealer today: "Upgrade to a 2013 and keep the same payment". i respond with a "ya, i am intrested."

they call me and tell me that they have drastically cut the prices on thier 2013 stock so they dont have to sell them to thier used market. Come on down and we will get you into a 2013 for the same payment you are making now.

i like my 2011, but there are a couple of things i would upgrade if i could..nav, sound system..

i have had my 2011 for a bit over 2 years now, so i would likely be starting that over again, but am i crazy not to take advantage of this?

All about preference man. Having the 2011 has given you the ability to decide if there are option that you cannot live without. An opportunity has come to allow you to make that change if you want. If you choose to, than it's like you just rented your current truck for a couple of years. If adding a couple of years to your loan term is worth the options you'd like to have, I say go for it. Again, all about preference.

Also, if you make the change, you are getting a brand new truck, with a brand new warranty.

Same truck though? Soon to be 4 year old truck traded in for a soon to be 2 year old previous generation truck?

Obviously do what works for you, but sure sounds strange.

It seems to me that this is more of a financial decision...
What could you sell your 2011 truck for right now versus the extra cost of stretching your payments for another 2 years (or whatever the deal is). This should be like a fire sale and you should be pushing for a really great deal as they will lose a lot if they have to sell into the second hand market.

Where I live we have not been able to buy a 2013 truck for about 4 months as they started discounting them in July of 2013 but only slight reductions on price. The 2014 models (obviously spec, not build dates) arrived in late August.

is it same truck for same payments or they can get you into a 2013 for same payments remember there is a huge difference they could be talking about an xlt model instead of an fx4

second thing is if you add any upgrades or packages the monthly will obviously go up compared to what your paying now and that's what there hoping for, then when the 2015's come out they hope youll kick urself in the *** for the 2013 and upgrade again witch makes them more money.
