Default Upfitter install with rigid light - wiring help

Hi all,

I am in the process of installing some upfitter switches in my 2012 SCrew and have a set of Rigid D2's and a 30" SR light that's going in as well.

My question is how to best wire these to the upfitter switches. My plan is to use one switch for the bar, that will be activated when the switch is up and high beams are on.

For the D2's, I'd like the ability to either have them come on with my high beams or independently if I wish.

I know I will be using three of the upfitter switches, and right now have sketched a wiring diagram that uses both the Ford and Rigid relays to accomplish this.

I will post the diagram as soon as I have a chance, I'm just wondering if anyone else has done something similar and may have some ideas.

Cheers!

Are you looking to use the Ford/OEM upfitter switches? Have you bought one yet? PM me if you haven't. Have a brand new one in the box.

Are you using the Ford OEM upfitters and relay harness? If so, you can run the power out from the Ford relay (that would normally run to the lights) and run it to the power in of the rigid relay, then power out of the rigid relay to the lights. Then use the high beam circuit to switch the rigid relay. Now when you flip the upfitter switch, the lights will come on with the high beams and turn off when the high beams are off.

If you want the lights to also be able to switch independently, you'll have to use another switch.

If you are not using the Ford Upfitters, I would use a DPDT switch. Then you could accomplish the same thing with 1 switch and 1 relay.

Thanks for your help! I actually did figure it out using a similar method to what you proposed. I used a combination of the Ford and Rigid relays and now have it all functioning using the upfitter switches.

If anyone else is trying to do this let me know and I can post a diagram of how mine are hooked up.

Cheers

Good to hear. I'm sure it looks great. I love The factory look of the OEM upfitters, but they are limited in wiring options.
