**update** service advancetrac light

Looks like I'm a little late to the party, but I found this thread and joined the forum because I'm having the same problem.
For a little background, I have a 2011 SCREW 5.0 XLT that we bought new, and it now has just under 98k miles. A couple months back I had to replace the Transmission Control Module because it wouldn't go into 4x4, but I was able to do it myself after having the part shipped to me from a junk yard across the state. Other than that, we've never had any problems with it.
Last week I got an alert that it had lost connection to a tire pressure sensor, but it never came back. The next day I started getting notifications to Service AdvanceTrac. Those have come and gone for about a week now, and while it's lit up my turn signals won't stay on. When I took it in the dealer they had no idea about a TSB on it, even when I asked, but they pulled code C-1B00 and told me it is a bad steering angle sensor and I have to replace the entire rack and pinion steering gear to get it fixed. Since the truck is out of warranty, they want nearly $1,700 to do it. I was hoping to find some info on here that would either help me find a less expensive fix, or a method to do it on my own. Any advice?

I found Re-manufactured steering section at Autozone for about $650. Also you might check junkyards.
I hate the fact these trucks have electric steering.
I would tell them to clear the codes and just drive it until the steering is terrible. Will make a whining sound when it gets bad.

That's the one annoying thing about my truck.
It started at about 40,000 miles, and it was when I was hooking up my trailer, sitting still, and spinning the wheel from side-to-side to line the ball up.
Now my truck is at 117,000 miles and it's still the same. If my wife drives the truck, she doesn't start moving, but she sits still and cranks the wheel before she starts pulling away from the curb, and on comes the Service Advancetrac icon.
It never does it to me, because I usually have the truck rolling before I spin the wheel.
With so many people having the same issue, mine isn't getting touched until it does something wrong.

wow, kinda glad its not just me....
same thing, sharp turn backing up, "service advancetrac", and no turn signals. dealer said they could re-flash the computer, or replace the rack. dont have 2 grand to flush, so i took the re-flash (about as useful as resetting the codes with my code-reader). ironically, it was not covered under my Ford Certified Pre-Owned, Powertrain, or Bumper-to-Bumper warranties. never going to bother with a vehicle warranty again, I've never had one actually pay for something that went wrong (that i believed was a manufacturers defect).

Advance trac light
I have a 2013 f-150 STX 4x4. I know it may be a little late, but i have had some of the same issues but the adveance trac light comes on when i turn to the left at least half turn. then i feel the brake pedal vibrate or pulsates like the abs does when you step on your brakes and tires loose traction. It goes away after 1 second or so. Turn signals have been working fine, and when i shutoff and restart, the light goes out. i think its one of the front wheel sensors. I did replace the hub/bearing assembly on passenger side last fall, so i am leaning on the drivers side sensor cable. Any thoughts?
