**update** service advancetrac light
#161
I got the truck back, new steering rack installed under warranty. Problem is solved %100. I just hope nothing else breaks at this point. I hear the vacuum pumps like to go bad on ecoboost....

Update -> My experience a bit different that the rest of the thread.
So, after about a month+ of different attempts at fixing the "Service Advancetrak" the truck ended up at a Ford Dealership and a Ford Field engineer was brought in. CARMAX covered the whole cost which included a new battery, new 20" rims and tires (original owner had swapped for 19"), a new ABS control module and BCM. The Field engineer ended putting in a new body control module and fought with some communications issues but finally reprogrammed every module involved. (Another $500) AND FINALLY Looks like the issue is resolved.
So net net it now works and I have new wheels, new battery and some new electronics, and I am only out the time the truck sat in service, but no real $$. Got say CARMAX did a great job covering all this on a 4 year old truck, don't think a dealership would have done the same....
[QUOTE=F-150Fun;3634130]I recently bought a 2011 F-150 SCREW from Carmax and within the 5 day warranty period this problem occurred and they have been trying to fix ever since, including taking to a ford dealership.
I am seeing the same run around that many have seen on this thread, with their trying fixes which have no impact. The most major of these is the replacement of the ABS module. The problem is intermittent but now fairly reproduce-able mostly through parking and backing up after a delay the light comes on but will clear on a restart and then eventually come back on.

I believe my problem has finally been resolved. Short explanation: the problem was with the sway control set up I have for my camper. The sway control was “sticking” causing the truck to pull slightly when I first start out. This required some initial counter steer to maintain straight-ahead driving, and resulted in the Advancetrac system miscalculating the “zero” steering point. Over time the trailer would find the correct “home” position, and then the Advancetrac system would be confused and would throw the error. I was able to resolve the issue by fixing the sticking sway control. A little grease did the trick. Since lubricating the sway control, I have driven several hundred miles without incident.

+1 on Service Advancetrac with no turn signals...
I have a 2012 STX with about 19k miles. I believe it was manufactured in late 2011.
Just starting the truck up (after backing into a parking space and having lunch) the Service AdvanceTrac warning came up and while returning to work, the turn signals wouldn't stay on unless the lever was held.
Reboot (shut off and restart) after parking again and the light was still on and signals still didn't work.
Time to leave work a few hours later and everything seemed to reset back to normal.
Then, when executing a similar "backing and turning" move to parallel park, the Service AdvanceTrac light came back on and the signals stopped working.
In searching for this issue, I found this site:
F150 Steering Issues
It seems that the potential for this to become MUCH worse exists. Mine goes to the dealer tomorrow morning.

Wow, Lots of people with the same problem. Since my rack was replaced, life is good. I did note when at the dealer that the part was in stock. Being it is a really expensive part, it did not make sense for it to be so. Must be replacing it frequently.

The light was off and turn signals worked when I dropped it off so I was hoping they'd see some stored codes. Sure enough, C1963 and C1B00 were present.
They first tried to update/flash the ABS module. Notes say code C1B00 still not clear so rack was replaced.
All in all, I'm very happy with the way they dealt with this. Called on Tuesday. Dropped the truck off on Thursday morning. Truck back home Thursday evening.
I do concur that it seems awfully odd that the dealer had this part in stock. Even for the 2014 recall, they only had 2 trucks affected by it. I have a sneaking hunch Ford knows about this issue. . . and there were two shooters on the grassy knoll.
Thankfully, I have Ford ESP premium care so if this rack only lasts 2.5 years and 18k miles, I'll get another compliments of the blue oval.

Service advance trac and signal light
I have a 2011 F150 XLT ecoboost that the "service advance traction" light comes on, usually when parking and having to turn the steering wheel all the way to the left. When I get the error, if I restart the vehicle, the error goes away. Also, my left turn signal will not stay on. It only flashes 3 times. The dealer thought a new SCCM would fix the problem. They could not program the new SCCM and said that the PSCM shows the steering wheel turned all the way to the right when straight and turned to the left. They put the old SCCM in and the signal light still only flashes 3 times on the driver side. They seemed to think they would need several days to diagnose the problem. Any ideas? I do not want to spend $1000 to fix a signal light problem.

Have a 2011 FX4 5.0, 59k miles. While doing 45 down a service road, power steering went out, as well as AdvanceTrac. "Power Steering Assist Fault" and "Service AdvanceTrac" error messages were both flashing on the display. And my power steering was really out (hard as hell to turn). Now, when I crank it, "Service Power Steering Now" comes on as well as "Service Advancetrac". Power steering is still really out. Unhooked battery for a few hours and reconnected, still the same deal. Taking it to the dealer in the morning.
I hope that if they need to replace the rack it is covered by my extended basecare warranty, if not this will be the first and last ford that I own.
