I am really gunshy now. Been seeing a lot of commercials about Tundras I think I am going to try one of them. Have had a couple Tacomas and never had any problems with them. May come back to Ford one day but right now you guys have got me where I am scared to drive one.

I have been an F150 owner for my past 4 trucks. All have been bought used except for my 2011, which was new because I HAD to have an EcoBoost. Anyway, on to my point. The only truck that has had any major / ongoing issue was my '97 F150 4.6L. One of the air conditioner line continually dripped condensed water onto the #4 spark plug well area. This would eventually get down into the well and either cause the spark to arc down the side of the plug or the heated water would build up pressure and pop the boot off of the plug. This was on ongoing issue for 170,000 miles. that would show its ugly face about every 30,000 miles. Other than that, with the exception of a few minor and regular maintenance issues, all of my F150s have been essentially trouble free.
When I purchased my last truck, I considered a Toyota or Nissan, but I couldn't find a deal, so I ended up with a Ford. When buying my current truck (before I knew what the EcoBoost was) I was interested in a GM product. I really liked the looks of the GMC truck and their rear differential is pretty impressive. Once again, in the end, Ford won the sale.
Just to make my point even shorter - 4 Ford trucks, well over a quarter million combined miles, and one moderate issue. Not bad.

Please also keep in mind that when people have problems with a piece of equipment, one of the places they turn to for help is the internet. The millions of F-150 owners that don't have any problems aren't posting that fact here.
I think if you spend months of time on any vehicle forum, you'll see they are all similar: a resource for those that have issues.
My F-150 has been excellent. It is creatively engineered, well built and mechanically sound. I come to the forum to look for creative ways to mod my truck and for entertainment. There's a reason it's the best selling truck on the U.S. - it is better than the others. There's a reason Motor Trend named it truck of the year 2012...
I looked at Tundras too, but I felt the sheet metal on my refrigerator was sturdier than the Toyotas. Then I drove both and and I've never looked back.
Good luck to you, whatever you do.

Now I had an older truck, a 1976 but I absolutely loved that thing!!! The only stuff I had problems with were typical wear and tear... Like bushings and stuff.. My family is a Ford family, we all have excursions, f150's f250's and wouldn't trade them for anything

The 2011 F150 has several global defects - affecting almost everyone!
I agree with the original OP. Why does everyone state that forums are negative becasue thats where people come and bitc* and complain only! I see plenty of posts with guys loving their trucks, and other stuff thats not defect related.
This is my second F150, and the first one (2009) had very few issues, this one (2011) is full of defects, I cant even list them all wothout tears after trading a great truck in for this head ache.

Heck, the other day, we took our trucks out to the local dragstrip. You should have seen the Tundra frame flex. Wow, that thing is not very strong. The F150 is clearly a tougher, heavier duty, better made truck. A quick visit on other forums should set you straight.
