Default Unexpected 2012 purchase :

On father's day my dad asked me if I wanted to sell my truck. I decided that I would so I sold my 2011 XLT 4x4 screw to him. I then picked up this 2012 FX4. It has the Lux package and manstep and those are pretty much the only options. So far Ive tinted the front windows to match, removed the fx4 decals (the 2012 decals in my opinion dont look as good as the 2011s), replaced all interior bulbs with leds, along with the cargo and tag lights and painted a factory chrome tip black for a little accent. I am going to finish blacking out the little chrome that's left and then work on my stereo once again!

Looks great.

Do you have any info or threads describing how to change interior lights to LED's?

Thanks

I think there may already be a thread about it, but theres nothing to it really. I used 194 wedge based bulbs for the front map lights, cargo lights, and tag lights. I used 42mm festoons for the rear dome and map light.

The front map light is pretty easy to drop down and then replace the bulbs. It only took me a couple of minutes to figure it out. I have the little console with the two flip down glasses holders. when you flip down the one closest to the light module you can look up in there and see that its held by two plastic clips, i just pried the clips a little and the whole thing pops out. Then its really easy to pop off the "buttons" and remove the metal foil for easy bulb removal. The rear dome cover just pops off, the tag lights are twist locks and are accessible by reaching behind the bumper, the cargo light obviously is just the two screws holding the housing and then the bulbs are also twist lock.

Did the LED's in the interior tonight also, picked my new truck up at 10 and besides the shorty antenna was my first mod. If you do a search, Jon_To on here has a kit for cheap to convert it. I went with the lesser output lights and I think they are more then enough light. Wish I had pics...

Great lookin fx4 btw! These trucks rock!

Thanks for the INFO! On the rear dome, did you pull from the back or front? I pulled pretty hard, but didn't want to crack anything!

Is the LED conversion for power consumption or appearance reasons?
