2011 OEM Remote Start starting distance
My 2011 FX4 OEM remote start all on the key (no fob, factory installed) is only working from about 100 feet away, is anyone else having the same problem and a estimate how far the 2011 OEM unit will start your engine. I was wondering if the antenna is plugged in properly. I press door lock and engine start 2x. I also changed the battery in the key. Thanks for any info. Dave

Yeah, I'm not impressed with mine either. I have a 2011 FX2 with the same 2x remote start and the distance leaves a lot to be desired. I know I have never had it work over 100 feet, I have a hard time at 50ft some days.

I had the OEM remote start in my 2009 when I had it and the distance was a joke. I am putting in a Python in my 2011 which will have a 2,000' range. You can get more from yours if you hold the remote to your chin, try it.

I am getting a viper put into my 2010 f150 next week. Range is 1 mile. Then you can get an add on that you can start it from a smart phone. Viper is made by the same people who make python. I had a python in another vehicle. Never had a problem with it. Actually transferred it to another vehicle when I traded up.

Mine also has the ability to add the smart phone but couldn't afford it this time around. I am getting the P875 which is a 2-way but without the lcd screen as I really didn't want it, the led notification is fine enough for me.
Yes, I am aware of directed and they make quite a few different alarms/remote combos i.e. Python, Viper, Clifford, Astrostart etc...
