Viking..not so hard at all. Remove the dash panel below the steering wheel; remove the 2-pc wrap around the steering column; take out the 2 screws above the instrument panel that look like they go up through the top of the dash; gently pull loose the trim around the instrument panel glass; then remove the 4(2 at top, 2 at bottom) 7mm screws holding the panel in place(do NOT remove the 2 torx screws at the top); pull the instrument panel toward you slightly, then unplug the only connector on the top right; you now have the panel in your hand. NOTE: if you have a column shift, you will have to occasionally adjust from Park to Drive or Low to remove some of these pieces.
Place it on a soft surface face down; you can now see the chime; remove the 1 torx screw in the middle, and gently unclip all the clips around the side to remove the white plastic back. Now you can GENTLY remove the chime.
Put it back together in reverse order.

When there is a problem, solve it at the source. The source was the chime; not all the damn wires that needed to be cut or jumped or whatever. Neutralize the source...
Of course now if I decide to sell it, I'm going to have to have a group of lawyers draw up disclaimers to go with the title!

***update***
Two other things you should know before doing this mod.
1. Make sure to disconnect your battery before beginning.
And 2. This also effects your turn signal "clicking" when your signals/hazards are on. You will no longer "hear" your blinkers on, but your indicators on the instrument cluster will still blink.
So, if you are one of those hard-of-hearing drivers out there that like to make the rest of the world think you're always turning right (or left) for miles on end, this might not be the mod for you

Hell, Toyota has no disable method for the seat belt chime!!! They have too many lawyers.

OK guys, here it is. Quarter gives size reference. In the first pic, you can see traces of a black fiber-cloth around the edges. That cloth actually covered the whole back. I removed it hoping to be able to just "disable" the chime from within, instead of removing it.
The second pic shows the three tabs that needed to be pushed in to remove it from the circuit board. Then just pull straight out to unplug. Ta-Dah!!
