Gee, I wonder why there are not more 6.2 engines sold right now? I can understand going out in the desert and playing with your Raptor, but I would not put up with the horrible EPA ratings on the street version.
Any bets that the 6.2 goes away in the next version?

6.2's are for special people who would pay $6.00 a gallon just to drive one around. Insane, yup! Drive one around for a day with a tuner and exhaust and you'll figure out why some of us pay for it up front and at the pump.

EPA rating are one thing, real world is another. The non- Raptor F150's get respectable mpg for a v8 truck. Before swapping tires I was getting 16+ on the highway in my Raptor, hardly terrible.

Ford did offer them in more models this year so they must be selling well enough for the bean counters.

Before anyone says, "that's so they can get rid of 'em"... That isn't how it works. For every unit, or block of units sold, manufacturers also produce 'x' number of repair and consumable parts. That means that by putting the 6.2 in more trucks, they have to make even more to account for that secondary market.

I'll take that bet - I got $10 on the 6.2 remaining in the F150 and the F250. Ford didn't invest millions in R&D to tank the engine after 3 or 4 years. Besides, it isn't like the engine is unpopular or plagued with problems. They can't keep them on the lots...

Look at the other cars on that list and tell me that someone who buys any car on that list gives a crap about gas mileage. I bought my Harley because i wanted the feel of a sports car but needed the capabilities of a truck. The comment about the speedlimits is a pretty dumb one IMO. Yeh you can leagally only drive so fast but you cant tell me that driving around in a honda civic is as enjoyable as any car on that list. If i had to pick i would choose to drive a Lambo and never go over 50mph rather than a smart car that was allowed to go as fast as it could everywhere.

People buy ecoboosts for very different reasons than those of us that own a 6.2L.

I highly doubt anyone who bought this pickup, just like a Ferrari owner w/a V12! Didn't buy their truck w/ the 6.2L with any concerns about MPG's! If they did they weren't paying attention to which motor the truck had on the window sticker, IMO!!!

I would think someone with this motor wants to enjoy the Roaring sound of that BadAss V8 motor when it throws you back in your seat! I highly doubt a Raptor owner etc. is going " Oh gee whiz this big 6.2L sure does suck the gas w/a firehose!!! I better trade it in on a new Ford C-Max.... I drive a Ecoboost which is no 6.2L, but its Fast! Yet I dont throw on a racing helmet, and head down to the drag strip!!! Its still a pick up truck! I take my Z06 to the drag strip!

I will say this about Ford, they cater to the consumer, not the greenie bastards that write vehicle reviews. Might be why they are doing so well...

Odd that the Dodge gas HD's didn't make the list. Those really suck and like gas, I was getting 10mpg consistently when I owned a Dodge. Actually no Chrysler made the list....wonder who sponsored that write-up..... :-)
