Yeah, at least that is the theory.

I love how quiet my truck is so I didn't install after market pipes, I just cut it off after the axel and called it a day. I love the clean look. I did buy a $10 turn down tip from autozone and clamped it on to ensure that the exhaust was forced down and out of the bed. I've heard that the moisture buildup isn't good if it is getting trapped in the bed. But that's just what I've read.

What muffler is that? I am trying to find a quieter muffler, I have a flow master currently.

Sorry don't have a pic installed but here is mine, buddy is a welder and made it all stainless steel for me, the turndown happens right before the axle. Sounds really nice, a little drone on the freeway I'm thinking of maybe going to a quieter muffler. Love the clean look with no outlets out the back though.

I have a magnaflow (I think 18"). Not sure on the exact model. Sounds amazing in he city just loud on the freeway. All my passengers (including women) say they don't mind the sound they really like it though. I know the stainless helps with the nice sound quite a but as well

Depending on how your duals are routed you could simply just cut the pipes and add small turn down tips.

On my '10 I had dual 18" tips coming out at a 45 degree and got tired of keeping them clean. Country living plus a ton of mud made up keep a pain.

I prefer the looks of no visible exhaust so I dumped it over the axle with a tip.

I was originally going to run a SI/DO and and tuck the exhaust up and add small tips that barely showed from where the bed and bumper meet. The extra $200 for pipe wasn't worth it since you wouldn't really be able to see it.

If I was in your situation I would route two new pipes over the axle and dump it similar to my setup.

So I just had my tips cut off and new ones dumped behind my axle incognito... I went with larger tips also and wow what a difference in sound it made! I'm very impressed with that and the clean look....

That's what I want to do to my roush exhaust. I want to take my stock pipe from after the stock muffler and cut it off and clamp it onto my roush system and dump it by the spare tire. I just wonder how it will alter the sound from the roush dual tip to a single one. What tip is that?

Congrats! What were the tip sizes before and after? I wonder how the tone will change if I went from roush have a Y to two tips (2.5-3.5" I don't recal) to a single 4".
