Default Turn Downs?

Some a**hole at the tire shop decided to rest my truck on my nice custom painted gloss black exhaust tips denting and scratching the f*** out of the drivers side as well as slamming it into the rear rocker panel and messing up that plastic molding. Since these no longer look good I'm thinking about cutting them off and installing turn downs for a cleaner look.... since they're black you can't see them very well any way, opinions?

Kick the living hell out the ahole that did it and make the shop replace them. Or give you the money for them and then just get you a saws all and cut the pipes where it bends over the rear axle. Instant turn down and it's free.

Oh yea I'm definitely going to have the shop pay me I'm just not wanting to wait to have a new set painted and then installed... that and I leave the house at 6 am and get back closer to 5 everyday for work so I don't really have time to be running parts and stuff across town to get work done...

If you have or can get your hands on a saws all, you can cut your tailpipes in less than 5 mins. I'm personally not a fan of tailpipes or tips that are visible on trucks. That was the first thing I did the day I took delivery. I immediately took it to my work and cut my tailpipe and tinted my windows. I'm not sure what kind of exhaust you have, but if you remove tailpipes and add turndowns, it will definitely be louder. If you cut the tailpipes over the axle, it won't change the sound too much.

The difference between cutting the pipes and turn downs is nothing more than money and sound really. They both do the same thing. They eliminate the tips and alter the sound. Cutting your tailpipe in its natural bend behind the axle is essentially free. Having turndowns installed right out of the muffler will probably cost you a little bit since they have to weld pipe for ya. Turndowns will make the truck louder than cutting the pipe. The longer the pipe, the quieter the sound.

Just dump after the outlets, If you dont like it then clamp the exhaust back on and sawz-all after the axle. If you could handle the cab noise, dumping right after muffler sounds the best IMO.

Turn Downs?-image-949118320.jpg

Sorry don't have a pic installed but here is mine, buddy is a welder and made it all stainless steel for me, the turndown happens right before the axle. Sounds really nice, a little drone on the freeway I'm thinking of maybe going to a quieter muffler. Love the clean look with no outlets out the back though.
